"In My Time of Need" as written by and Mikael Lars Akerfeldt....
I can't see the meaning of this life I'm leading
I try to forget you as you forgot me
This time there is nothing left for you to take
This is goodbye

Summer is miles and miles away
And no one would ask me to stay

And I should contemplate this change
To ease the pain
And I should step out of the rain
Turn away

Close to ending it all, I am drifting through the
stages
Of the rapture born within this loss
Thoughts of death inside
Tear me apart from the core of my soul

Summer is miles and miles away
And no one would ask me to stay

And I should contemplate this change
To ease the pain
And I should step out of the rain
Turn away

At times the dark's fading slowly
But it never sustains
Would someone watch over me
In my time of need?

Summer is miles and miles away
And no one would ask me to stay

And I should contemplate this change
To ease the pain
And I should step out of the rain
Turn away

General CommentAhh, I'm so glad this site is up again. :) Anyway, here is what I got from this song. This may not be EXACTLY what the songwriter meant, but I can relate to the lyrics on a very personal level. The lyrics "Summer is miles and miles away, and no one would ask me to stay" are the ones that struck a chord with me. The person is depressed, but is doesn't really want to kill himself at first. He thinks, or hopes, that perhaps he may have a reason to live. Someone might miss him if he died. Someone may want him to still be around. However, to his dismay and disappointment, no one seemed to care. "No would ask me to stay." Sad, sad song, but I like it. It's georgous. I love Opeth! They're beautiful whether they're heavy or soft. :)

General Commentim new to this but ill give it a shot. it seems hes close to suicide and just saddened and depressed. he needs someone to either help him change his mind and talk him out of suicide or something to guide him to heaven or a peaceful place when he does commit suicide.. but im an idiot :\

General Commentyeah deedoo's got it right.. about that last part he said.. it sucks even more if there person always told you they'd want to stay friends... and then one day things are ok and trying to work it out and then after it just seems as if they're trying to pretend as if you never existed.... goddamn.. it hurts like hell...

General Commentpersonally i worry about mike writing these lyrics.
i trust him not to commit suicide.
but just so he knows, he would be SO missed if he commited suicide.

    he is god.
    opeth rule.
they invoke true emotion through musicianship coupled with creative poerty and wordsmanship.

General CommentYeah, Chrissy's right. It's about considering suicide, and wondering if life is worth holding onto. He thinks it's far too long until good times come around again, and he feels that nobody would care if he killed himself. So he's wishing that somebody would just be there for him and keep him from ending it all.

General CommentI'm new to this site and this is exactly my first try.I love the entorouge of this song and I think of that as a postmodern song cause the audience soddenly find himself in the middle of issue (the suicide).
