There's a game life plays
Makes you think you're everything they ever said you were
Like to take some time
Clear away everything I've planned

Was it life I've betrayed
For the shape that I'm in
It's not hard to fail
It's not easy to win
Did I drink too much
Could I disappear
And there's nothing that's left but wasted tears

There's nothing left but wasted years

If I could change my life
Be a simple kind of man try to do the best I can
If I could take the sides
I'd derail every path I could
I'm about to die
Won't you clear away from me give me strength to fly away

Was it life I've betrayed
For the shape that I'm in
It's not hard to fail
It's not easy to win
Did I drink too much
Could I disappear
And there's nothing that's left but wasted tears

There's nothing left but wasted years
There's nothing left but wasted years
There's nothing left but wasted years

Was it life I've betrayed
For the shape that I'm in
It's not hard to fail
It's not easy to win
Did I drink too much
Could I disappear
And there's nothing that's left but wasted tears

Was it life I've betrayed
For the shape that I'm in
It's not hard to fail
It's not easy to win
Did I drink too much
Could I disappear
And there's nothing that's left but wasted tears

Was it life I've betrayed
For the shape that I'm in
It's not hard to fail
It's not easy to win
Did I drink too much
Could I disappear
And there's nothing that's left but wasted tears

"this song is basically about how I let little things take away the things I needed in life" -Scooter

This song, to me, is about feeling that it's your own fault that you feel the way you feel. shrug That's my personal interpretation.

Cold is . . . such a great band and this album is as good as their first and second one combined. They got better with each album and they deserve much respect for that.

This song is very solemn. It makes me think about how I am wasting the years of my youth doing nothing worthwhile.

This song to me is about someone who is lost but at an older age. Some1 whoes 40 and sees that they've gone no where with life. That they just partied, played the game of life, and now they are all alone in a mid life crisis situation. It seems that this person feels like all thats left is to die because all of lifes fun has passed and they wish that they could have gone back to do the simple things in life. Now theres nothing left but wasted years

Ha! Finally some Cold lyrics to comment on (at least for the new album). I'll start off by saying I highly recommend this album -- it will blow you away with emotion! I thought 13 WTB couldn't be topped but this one does! Or comes real close!

This song is my favorite one on this album right now. It is beautiful. It seems that this person has wasted his life doing the things he didn't really want to do. Somehow he has taken the wrong path and now feels stuck in the life he is in. So he is trying to get back to basics and I think it hints at him living his life for someone else instead of his own.

this is cold's new single. or atleast i think. it was peformed on jay leno. anyways, i think this is about when a relationship has had years put in and results in nothing. like friendships and stuff like that.

my fav part is when he says "I'm about to die won't you clear away from me give me strength to fly away "

this song is really goood and the album is awesome.

This song is all about losing everything that was ever important and looking for the reason why. This song reminds me of a friend that screwed his life up really bad, I keep looking for the reason why.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
