I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
Mama, Papa
Forgive me
Out of sight
Out of mind
Out of time
To decide
Do we run?
Should I hide?
For the rest
Of my life
Can we fly?
Do I stay?
We could lose
We could fail
In the moment
It takes
To make plans
Or mistakes
30 minutes, a blink of an eye
30 minutes, to alter our lives
30 minutes, to make up my mind
30 minutes, to finally decide
30 minutes, to whisper your name
30 minutes, to shoulder the blame
30 minutes, of bliss, thirty lies
30 minutes, to finally decide
Carousels
In the sky
That we shape
With our eyes
Under shade
Silhouettes
Casting shade
Crying rain
Can we fly?
Do I stay?
We could lose
We could fail
Either way
Options change
Chances fail
Trains derail
30 minutes, a blink of an eye
30 minutes, to alter our lives
30 minutes, to make up my mind
30 minutes, to finally decide
30 minutes, to whisper your name
30 minutes, to shoulder the blame
30 minutes, of bliss, thirty lies
30 minutes, to finally decide
To decide
To decide, to decide, to decide
To decide
To decide, to decide, to decide
To decide
Forgive me
Out of sight
Out of mind
Out of time
To decide
Do we run?
Should I hide?
For the rest
Of my life

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
Blue

Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
The video has a lot to do with the lyrics. Lena cheating on Yulya REPRESENTS how things can change so quickly. 30 minutes is the time that is set on the bomb. This all represents how the cheating happened so quickly, then 30 minutes is what Lena has to stop cheating, and what Yulya has to decide whether to kill the person she loves.
Oooh asphyxiating, this one is tough to crack. At least for me!
I'll try.
Okay I almost got it.
I feel this song is talking about how so much of your life can change in a short time based on your decisions. Like all it takes is 30 minutes for you to take a chance that will change your life forever.
This line seems pivotal in this song:
"In the moment it takes To make plans, or mistakes" (BTW I think the lyrics here might be a little off)
It's saying
It compares how long it takes for anything life changing to happen. 30 minutes is a blink of the night (it's so quick). 30 minutes to all of our lives (In 30 minutes you'll never live the same).
So its two of them deciding whether they should stay or run away together. And what makes that decision so hard is how it will dramatically change them for the rest of their lives. But it is ironic because the decision is only 30 minutes.
umm shoot!! 4got the meaning thing.. this song is basically saying if your gay friend is cheating on you...blow them up to pieces.. prefereably on a carnival.... ( I must comment on her creativity instinct..I mean honestly ... Yulya is very creative..wrapping dynamite like that is one of the prettiest thing a gal can ever do...and she was very nimble...) anyway the best part is when Lena and her fag got blown up... I almost replayed the scene for an entire 3hours... ahhh the meaning is very deep indeed.... and very positive to the teens of this generation ..thumbs up tatoo...
I'm going to put a very different spin on it. 30 minutes is how long it takes for an intercontinental nuclear missile to get from Russia to the United States, and vice-versa. 30 minutes to contemplate the rest of your life, and how it, and the world, is about to end. "Should I run, should I hide, for the rest of my life?" There's no running or hiding from that. It's a cry to the powers that be to put away such things before we're all left with only 30 minutes...
i cant believe no one has posted to this song i think it is the greatest song on there album how can no one post? but one problem im confused about the meaning can someone please tell me about it?
I've seen the music video done for this and, in the video, one of them cheats on the other (I can't remember which). So she puts a bomb in the other girl's purse, giving her thirty minutes to make things right.
But I agree with chino69 on how life can change.
It's about Lena cheating on Yulya. Yulya makes a bomb and kills Lena and her boyfriend. The timer on the bomb is set at 30 minutes.
I don't think the video has anything to do with the lyrics. I agree with the above, the song is about how time can change in just a sorten amout of time, adding on...the lyrics are incorrect. It's "30 minutes of a blink of an EYE" not a night
*correction, 30 minutes, a blink of an eye
I love the video, I never see it anymore
