In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
Not gonna get us
They're not gonna get us
Not gonna get us
Not gonna get us
They're not gonna get us
They're not gonna get us
Not gonna get us
They're not gonna get us
Not gonna get us
Starting from here, let's make a promise
You and me, let's just be honest
We're gonna run, nothing can stop us
Even the night that falls all around us
Soon there will be laughter and voices
Beyond the clouds over the mountains
We'll run away on roads that are empty
Lights from the airfield shining upon you
Nothing can stop this, not now, I love you
They're not gonna get us
They're not gonna get us
Nothing can stop this, not now, I love you
They're not gonna get us
They're not gonna get us
They're not gonna get us
They're not gonna get us (gonna get us, gonna get us)
They're not gonna get us (gonna get us)
Not gonna get us
Not gonna get us (gonna get us)
Not gonna get us
Not gonna get us
Not gonna get us
Get us
Not gonna get us
We'll run away, keep everything simple
Night will come down, our guardian angel
We rush ahead, the crossroads are empty
Our spirits rise, they're not gonna get us
My love for you, always forever
Just you and me, all else is nothing
Not going back, not going back there
They don't understand
They don't understand us
(Don't understand us)
Not gonna get us (not gonna get us, not gonna get us)
Not gonna get us (not gonna get us, not gonna get us)
Not gonna get us (not gonna get us, not gonna get us)
They're not gonna get us
Not gonna get us
Nothing can stop this, not now, I love you
They're not gonna get us
They're not gonna get us
Nothing can stop this, not now, I love you

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him.
There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Cough Cough. Umm they are not gonna get them.
I always felt that the song meant like everyone couldn't understand the fact that they were together and they felt that they just needed to run away from all that and run to each other because when they're together, everything's all better again.

I felt that the song meant that because i too feel the same exact way in my complicated relationship.

It's hard sometimes...but if you love them then it only matter on what that special someone thinks of you and not what anyone else thinks at all.

-peter-
have u seen the video? its like theyre driving this huge thing thru the sno... and they kill like 5 people.. and theyre laffing, like on top of this 14 wheeler, and no1 is driving... weird...
no. yulia has just had a baby and they have a new song coming out soon called "its all about us"
The whole gay thing was a marketing plan. Their manager, Ivan Shopavalov, formed the group after getting tired of looking for underage porn on the net and thought it would be a cashcow for him seeing how other people might be as sick as him (turns out, it worked).
great love song... especially between these 2 lesbians... right?
They've never really given a straight answer on their sexuallity, Jason_Smith.
Great song, nonetheless. Just like all the other Taty songs! They're just so lively, and.. fun, you know? -Amatory: Helena.
aunke apenas llega sus cancionesa latinoamerika esta cancion despierta un sentimiento de amor muy fuerte sobre si dos personas se aman no hay k pensar si les tiene k gustar a los demas viva t.a.t.u.!!!
xD.
Right-o. This song is aobut running away from Russia because of what the people think or what they might do to them (e.i. gay bash). So they're saying that they won't be caught because they're strong enough to get on.
They're kinda trendsbians l think that they just kiss for a marketing gimmick, but they're cute so it works, the music is decent so it works.
um the song itself l think is about some kind of pact, and solidarity between two individuals who are going to leave their troubles behind and start a new life somewhere and escape the oppression theyve been dealing with
I like this song, but does this mean that they're lez?
