"Panic Attack" as written by Dave Tozer and Christopher Anderson....
Thought I could fake this thing alright
Thought it could somehow get me by
Watching the doctors as they slide
Needles into my eye

Thought I could finally get around
Laughable symptoms keep me down
Faces I see all keep me blind
And now they're redemption's mine

Now that I can't exchange actions for words
Now that I found these inside fears the worst
Now that I know there's no place left to hide
Can I become all I thought I might

As the leaders who follow the path of whoever was standing round them
Call to say what I'm missing and into a detail they always go
Don't believe them but offer condolences under the circumstances
All too often I'm missing the spirit to fit in so call me out

Thought I could soundly sleep tonight
Positive clear and breathing right
Panic attacks, panic attacks me now
Seems like a fair redemption

General CommentThis song is tough to make some sense. I almost think that it is somehting of being brought out into the real world, say after college or something. You could relate this to many things though. Basically, the main idea I think is that panic is attacking him before something big, that he has trained/looked forward too and theres no way to hide, and he is thinking if he can become all he thought he might.

The part I cannot relate is the needles into eyes. I'm not sure what is going on with this part of the song. Who knows!

General CommentI think the part about the needle is suppose to convey a feeling of helplessness. Pretend you're strapped in a chair and someone is about to stick a needle into your eyes, all you can do is squirm and watch, helplessly.. I think that line sets the tone for the whole song..

General CommentThe song is political. The guy knows what is wrong and is trying to ask for help from others, but instead those who could help don't listen to his whole message instead "into a detail they always go" effictively silencing his message. After realizing that dissention with the current leadership is not tolorated, he tries to blend in with everyone else. However, he is paranoid because he KNOWS that the stituation is really bad and he suffers panic attacks as a result of his concern. In short, he really wants to ignore what is going on and fake compliance, but he found he simply couln't. Ignoring the situation is like trying to ignore someone sliding "a needle in my eye."

General CommentI personally believe that this song has absolutely nothing to do with politics... but that's just my take...

I actually agree 100% with Chylde...

Have you ever had a panic attack? It's literally one of the most terrifying things you could possibly experience... Because you literally feel out of control...you feel completely vulnerable...and unable to protect yourself... and no one else can do it for you... you get cold sweats...your body shakes anxiously...you literally are stuck in that state until it passes... There is nothing anyone can do or say to make it go away...it has to run its course...

"A needle in my eye" is a painful yet realistic way of trying to even begin to understand how it feels to feel so helpless...
