General CommentI was wondering where you people were getting "you sat along the fire" from, now i know. You're clearly confusing untitled #4 for untitled #1 Vaka... this one goes more like

    You sigh along,
You sigh along no far long.

    I love hopelandic, it's a great idea :)

General Commenti love this song becuase it can mean anything and evrything or absolutely nothing to you. the words seem to be there just to lead the song along, to guide it in some way. it would be self sustaining without them, but they just make you wonder what Jonsi was feeling when he put it together. as a singer/songwriter myself, a whole lot of thought goes into how you want the chords and the song to progress to get across what you feel. and given such an amazing musical work with the oppurtunity that polarbears? pointed out (writing our own words to the song) is just amazing. whenever i hear this song (which is quite often; i like to fall asleep to it on repeat) i hear "it's alright". obviously, the real words don't sound like that, but that's what i hear becuase that's what i want to/need to hear. i just lay there and my mind goes crazy about everything happening in my life and all i hear is "it's alright" and "it'll all be alright in time". that's very comforting.

General CommentEnough of your strange fire lyrics... these are the real ones..
    Essil on
    Essil on erifet al
    Essil on
    Essil on eriftel al
    Essil on

    This is the literal translation:
    I travelled through light
I travelled through light; I am not afraid

This is the so called poetic translation:
    In this lake of souls
In this lake of souls, I lose all fear

There is acutally background behind this that gives the lyrics a deeper meaning and can help you relaly understand it. It is based on Essilian mythology, so if you want to know moer look it up.

General CommentI'm a Sigur Ros fan since 2003.... i saw a video of this song applied to an "Amélie Poulain, movie background" and i just loved it..... since then the meaning for me is like.... of hope...... a person that always seeks for the right love, having several errors but always becoming bigger with hope.... and at the end i just imagine being with the loved one lying in a field under the sun, looking up and cheering for the love encontered...... ok i can be crazy smetimes hehe but i think its is

General CommentThe first time I heard this song was in the Vanilla Sky movie. The ending of the movie and this song was really powerful. When I listen to this song, I think of things greater than myself and my place in it all. I'm glad to find out that there really isn't any meaning to the lyrics but rather they mean what you want them to mean (the best kind of song). I envision this song playing at my funeral.

General CommentWhat I like about this entire album is you can interperet any meaning whatsoever to any of the songs. I especially love this one, beause it reminds me of when right after it rains in the summer, and you're just watching the clouds dissapate with someone you love.

General Comment( ) is a conceptual album about not being a conceptual album. Like you said, pheine, it's ultimately up to the listener to interpret these waves of beautiful sound. It's anything you want it to be. It might be the entire life of Jonsi even, put into song and muttered in Icelandic and Hopelandic. It might be his recounting of a love lost. It's up for you to decide. ( ) is an incredible album.

General CommentCould Vanilla Sky end on a song thats more dreamingly peaceful and uplifting than this one?

and a side note, anyone else think most of the lyrics throughout the entire album, despite their being made up dribble, all sound very similar to "You sat/sang along the fire"?
