It was a beautiful letdown
When I crashed and burned
When I found myself alone, unknown and hurt
It was a beautiful letdown
The day I knew
That all the riches this world had to offer me would never do

In a world full of bitter pain and bitter doubt
I was trying so hard to fit in, fit in
Until I found out
That I don't belong here
(I don't belong)
I don't belong here
(I don't belong)
I will carry a cross and a song
Where I don't belong
(I don't belong)
I don't belong

It was a beautiful letdown
When you found me here
Yeah for once in a rare blue moon I see everything clear
I'll be a beautiful letdown
That’s what I’ll forever be
And though it may cost my soul, I’ll sing for free

We’re still chasing our tails and the rising sun
And our dark water planet
Still spins in a race
Where no one wins and no one’s won
See I don't belong here
(I don't belong)
I don't belong here
(I don't belong)
I will carry a cross and a song where I don't belong
(I don't belong)
I don't belong here
(I don't belong)
I don't belong here
(I don't belong)
I'm gonna set sight and set sail for the kingdom come
Kingdom come
Your kingdom come
Won't you let me down!
Let my foolish pride forever let me down

Easy living, your not much like your name
Easy dying, hey, you look just about the same
Would you please take me off your list?
Easy living, please, come on and let me down

We are a beautiful letdown, painfully uncool
The church of the dropouts, the losers, the sinners, the failures and the fools
Oh, what a beautiful letdown
Are we salt in the wound?
Let us sing one true tune, yeah
I don't belong here
(I don't belong)
I don't belong here
(I don't belong)
Feels like I don't belong here, yeah
(I don't belong)
I don't belong here
(I don't belong)
Feels like I don't belong here, yeah
(I don't belong)
I don't belong here
(I don't belong)
I don't belong
Would you let me down?
Come on let me down
You always let me down
So glad that I'm let down, yea
Come on and let me down
'Cause I don't belong here
Please, won't you let me down?

General CommentThe beautiful letdown is realizing that the world will never satisfy you... so it's a disappointment, but then it's beautiful because you see that God can satisfy you.

General CommentThe beautiful let down in this song refers to the realisation that as christians we don't belong here on earth we belong in heaven. Earth is just the waiting room to our home in heaven

General CommentMan, this is one of my favorites from the new album. To me, this song portrays what it is like to be a Christian. The "beautiful letdown" is when we, as Christians, realize that the only thing we have that truly matters is our faith in God, and when we fully put our trust in Him.

And, by the way, several of these lyrics are wrong.

General Commenti luuuv this song! such great lyrics...it really is a beautiful letdown, a bittersweet kinda realization when you see how foolish all ur pride really was and how things of this world are quite insignificant in the face of a God who is much better than anything this world can offer. :)

General CommentI always thought the song meant that we are a beautiful letdown to God. That we're constantly sinning against Him, but we'll always remain beautiful. He loves us no matter what. No matter how much we let Him down.

So of course, we belong with Him, not here on Earth, where we'll continue to let Him down time and time again. We belong somewhere where sin is nonexistant.

General CommentAhhh, this song...is beautiful. :) Here's what it means to me: All Christians will realize that they truly don't belong here, they belong up in heaven with the Lord. That's the letdown. Yet, it's so beautiful because you know that you'll be with God after this life. So, we truly don't belong here, but let's make the best of it. Spread the word of the Lord! (I'll carry a cross and a sad song, where I don't belong....) Such an amazing song...ahhh <<3

General CommentI think it's about being let down so many times that it starts feeling normal. and instead of feeling down about it, this person finally understands that he or she doesn't belong wherever they're at in their life right now and feels comfortable with being let down because they know they're better than people might think they are.
