"Reality" as written by Michael Mushok, Aarron Lewis, Jonathan Wysocki and John April....
The lights are on but you're not home
You've drifted off somewhere alone
Somewhere that's safe
No questions here
A quiet place
Where you hide from your fears

Sometimes when you're out of rope
The way to climb back up's unclear
The walls you build around yourself
I guess they also keep you here
Are you afraid of what they think?
Whoever "they" happen to be
Or are you hiding
From the scars of your own Reality?

So you sedate and drown in vain
You've got a pill for every day
A suit and tie to mask the truth
Its ugly head is starting to show through

Sometimes when you're out of rope
The way to climb back up's unclear
The walls you build around yourself
I guess they also keep you here
Are you afraid of what they think?
Whoever "they" happen to be
Or are you hiding
From the scars of your own Reality?

The monster you're feeding
Your lack of perception
The things you will do
To fulfill addictions
The light at the end of your tunnel is closing
What is it that you're so afraid of exposing?
You'd give it all up
For what's there for the taking
Whatever it takes to keep your hands from shaking
The same things you're thinking
Might make you feel better
The same things that probably got you here

Sometimes when you're out of rope
The way to climb back up's unclear
The walls you build around yourself
I guess they also keep you here
Are you afraid of what they think?
Whoever "they" happen to be
Or are you hiding
From the scars of your own Reality?

The monster you're feeding
Your lack of perception
The things you will do
To fulfill addictions
The light at the end of your tunnel is closing
What is it that you're so afraid of exposing?
You'd give it all up
For what's there for the taking
Whatever it takes to keep your hands from shaking
The same things you're thinking
Might make you feel better
The same things that probably got you here

General CommentThis is another kick in my butt, this song is SO GOOD, Reality and Blow Away are my favs off the album.

This song sounds like it's about someone he knows who's here, but not "really here" or with it ...like a body with no soul or is lifeless. "When your out of rope the way to climb back ups' unclear", that's a fact we all face, sometimes when we don't know what to do we place walls up, letting no one in and blocking everyone out; you shouldn't get caught up in other peoples' negative opinions about you, the only people you should listen to should be people close to you, like your family or close friends.

So whatever your "poison" is, drugs, alcohol, sex, etc, your stuck behind it, the Bridge in this song is soooo damn meaningful and speaks a lot to me. Don't get stuck in what your in, which points back to the Chorus ... listen to those who you trust and love

General CommentThis song is all about running away from the problem. It shows that the things that you think are gunna help you get through the day is what is causing that bad day...This is so powerfull..

General CommentThis is about one person who has all of these problems in his life, and gets so paranoid about everything, and gets all depressed, and just makes their life worse and worse when the problem could easily be avoided

General Commentsaroknight is dead on the money about this song and blow away. blow away has the coolest intro and outro of any song i've heard this decade, and this song builds on itself in so many ways. not only does the bridge flow perfectly and poetically, it helps the song build on itself to it's ending glory, and reinforce the powerful meaning. Pure genius the way this song reaches into my mind.
i think this song is about someone who is hiding from thier own reality and shutting out everything shameful in thier past.

General CommentThe lyrics are alittle off in the first chorus: It should be "Sometimes when your out of rope
The way to climb back up is clear," Think about it. If there is no rope left beneath you, you only have one way to go, it'll be clear when you get to the bottom of that rope that the only way is up from there. However in the second chorus he does say "the way to climb back up's unclear"
And... i think in the bridge part it says "Youd give it all up for whats his for the takin" That is what it sounds like in the song... Anyways awesome song, Holla

General Commentthe song is about an addict.
Somewhere thats safe, no questions here
A quiet place where you hide from your fears - refers to being high and away from everything

A suit and tie to mask the truth
Its ugly head is starting to show trough - still holding the "life/image together" but slowly it always fallsThe
monster your feeding your LACK of perception - the addiction
The things you will do to fulfill addictions - whatever needs to be done - drugs first
The light at the end of your tunnel is closing - things getting worse and worse
What is it that your so afraid of exposing - your human. you just got caught up. lets get you clean.
Youd give it all up. for whats there for the taking? youd give all this up for DRUGS? why whats the tradeoff?
Whatever it take to keep your hands from shaking - alluding to the "shakes" alcholics get when need a drink
The same things your thinking might make you feel better
The same thing that probably got you here - getting high will make you feel better but in the big picture most likly it is whats to blame for all that is wrong with you.

    Just my take.

The same things your thinking might make you feel better
The same thing that probably got you here
