No shopping, no choice
I can't stay here and listen to your voice
I'll be gone before you're home
And if you want to know where, I went to
Then baby you, can read it in my note
It says I went to be alone

Yeah babe,
I know I make about twice the money you make
But of course, I'm never called a stupid whore or a fake
And I don't structure my life
Around fear of murder, dismemberment, or rape
But I hardly see what that has to do with our relationship

Now if you want to know where I went to
Baby, you can read it in my note
It says I went to be alone

General CommentApparently the male dialogue "yeah babe" was something Kathleen's ex-boyfriend had said to her previously, in all seriouslness.

The rest of it is pretty explanatory - Kathleen's leaving because she'd rather be alone than be with a jerk-off.

General CommentI can't believe there isn't more comments on this song, I just discovered it today on and I thought wow that is so true. Men you are so lucky and you don't even get it. It pisses me off that I can't go out alone in the city in fear that I could get kidnapped or raped or murdered, pisses me of that my parents tell me to take a man with me if going across canada as I've always wanted to . Oh man this song is awesome but it sure riles me up!

General CommentWhispering_sorrow i kinda get what yr saying about male privilege, but recently i either read or was told about someone's professor (i think i was told this, if so it was in ontario) who, when walking alone at night if he saw a woman in front of him, would cross the street in order to let her know he wasn't following her. stuff's changing a lot more guys are taking womens' studies and becoming more aware :)

Song MeaningLove this song and yeah it is about Kathleen leaving her boyfriend because he is dismissive of feminism despite it being really important to her.
