"This Is A Forgery" as written by and Christopher Andrew Carrabba....
This is a forgery, this is a forgery
Every single word is plagiarized.
Copied twice and thrice inscribed
This is a forgery. There is a path,

And to get where its leading,
You've got to be sharp and never bend easy
This is an enemy, this is an enemy
Compliments and chemistry.

Cavalier and so charming
This isn't everything, this isn't everything.
I had a fit and you had a feeling.
There was a path, and to get where its leading

You head to be sharp, you couldn't swerve side to side.
I was a razor and you were a straight line.
This is a travesty, this is a travesty,
Every sentiment has been contrived.

Palatable and so refined. Sugar sweet to appetize.
I had a fit and you had a feeling.
There was a path and to get where its leading
You head to be sharp, you couldn't swerve from side to side.

I was a razor and you were a straight line.
This is a forgery, this is a forgery.
Every single word is plagiarized.
Copied twice and thrice inscribed.

This is a forgery. And we were looking out, for some shining light,
But it was casket black, so we would search all night.

General CommentYeah....ummmm.....I heard this song on my girlgriends CD and the words are beautiful, but the music is shit. It was all techno and crap. If anyone knows of an accoustic version, pass it on my way, please!

General Commentthis song is the worst DC song i have ever heard. if their new cd is anything like this, i will be really REALLY unhappy. u can hardly even hear chris's voice over all that techno shit, and at no point in the song can u hear an acoustic guitar, which DC is most notable for. u think dashboard, u think acoustic, not electric guitars and keyboards. i want to murder this song...i feel better now that i got that out.

General CommentI may not like this song much but as an artist myself i give Chris a lot of credit, he tried something new with this song and as all DC fans know he hasn't had anything like this since. not anything i can find anyway. I think this was just trying something new and there's nothing wrong with it. he's still an amazing artist. listen to the lyrics not the techno beats

General CommentI like it alot, interesting change from most of his stuff. The lyrics are really good, and suprisingly his voice goes great with the techy beats.

General CommentNot to call you dumb, but look at the lyrics, and listen to the words. The song is a forgery. Chris meant it to be that way. "This is a forgery", this being the song.

General CommentYou should be a bit more open minded, and be a little less 'hardcore', Dashboard heads. If you were a real, true fan, you would give Chris credit for going out on a limb and trying something new. What makes bands/artists truly great (Incubus, Radiohead, A.F.I., The Beatles, and Weezer to name a few) is the ability to change, experiment, and redefine themselves. I, for one, don't want to purchase an Essential Chris Carrabba album 10 or 20 years from now with 25 songs that all sounds instrumentally parallel. Chris is a far greater musician and lyricist to do something of that nature. So, FOR THE LOVE OF PETE, give the guy a break and listen to the song again. You might realize that it is a good song regardless of its diverse (for Dashboard) instrumental. Besides, I believe this song was a transitional piece for Chris in between Further Seems Forever and the official formation of Dashboard Confessional.

General CommentI don't really like the techno thing either, but I think it's the point, it's supossed to sound completely unoriginal and copied....like a forgery.....or something like that.
