"Takeoffs And Landings" as written by and Kris Roe....
On this coldest of January nights
We'll drive out past the runway
And watch the planes go flying by
The runway lights are the deepest blue like the colors of your eyees
So close them tight and kiss me one last time

If you could go anywhere right now, where would you go?
And would you miss me when you get there?
There's no place that I would rather be

Please don't let me go falling from the sky
This fasten seat belt sign just needs to go out
If only you could be right here by my side
Home wouldn't seem so far from here

Passport, customs, carry-on
Remember to shut off all your electronic devices
Fell asleep on Tuesday... woke up on Monday afternoon
I slept right through your international date line

General Commentgreat song, great song....not all i can say but all i need to
i really identify with it for some reason even though i don't exactly have someone in my life that i could leave so home woudln't be so far from here.....i think thats the effect the internet has had on us all
but the line "The runway lights are the deepest blue like the colors of your eyes " really gets to me, cause my best friend has really blue eyes, and shes probably gonna be the only person i'd ever miss if i went somewhere, something like the get up kids - don't hate me

    General Commenti love this song!
kris roe's lyrics just get better with every album
but i think this song is talking about the constraints of having a rock singer life... about always having to get on a plane and leave and having a job to keep him from things
i could be wrong but the fasten seatbelt sign needs to go off sounds like something is holding him back and flying him away

General Commentyep i hafta agree with atarikid77...kris said at a show it was about how he hated flying and he would drive up to a airport and watch planes because he was trying to find beauty in something he didnt like....just goes to show how totally awesome he is....but i personally love this song...i have satellite and the alternative music channel the one that plays only music was playing this song long before the album came out and they had it titled as in this diary....so technically this is the first song i heard off the new album and it literally took my breath away...i dont have a significant other to relate it to but the line about the lights and blue eyes hits home because my ex bf had really amazing blue eyes...its such a great song and it just confirms for me that the ataris really are my favorite band! sorry such a long message i just cant help it i love them!
