You wear that superstar status on your shoulder
Don't worry, I won't lean on you when I get cold, yeah
Sell a million copies and I buy back your love
Tell everyone I hate you and I blame the above

Love, you're breaking me
Oh and love, you're shaking me
Yeah, to the curb
To the front door
I'm left empty in between

You wear that chip like it makes up your wardrobe
Don't worry, I won't tell anyone you're so bad
Sell a million copies and I buy back your love
Tell everyone I hate you and I'll blame the above

Love, you're breaking me
Oh and love, you're shaking me
Yeah, to the curb
To the front door
Well I'm left empty in between

Love, you're breaking me
Oh and love, you're shaking me
Yeah, to the curb
To the front door
Well I'm left empty in between

I just love this song...I don't know if there is some hidden meaning to it or anything. It just makes me feel happy everytime I here it...even though the lyrics are rather sad.

It sounds like someone got cheated on and they told everyone about it and got them all to feel sorry for them and now they feel like the better person in the relationship, but yet they were doing some dirty work of their own but thats forgotten about and put aside, and now the person that did the cheating is trying to do anything to get back that persons love but the other person is still holding a chip on their shoulder. "Yeah to the curb, to the front door, well i'm left empty in between" ... Not even a kiss at the end of the date???

sounds to me like someone who is famous and have forgotten their friends, or lover, and the persons frustration towards him/her.

Sounds like it's about person 1 who seems to think highly of themselves. They "wear that superstar status" on their shoulder. Person 2 and person 1 go on a date. Person 1 really likes #2 ("love, you're breaking me oh and love, you're shaking me") but she's literally left empty in between. Not even a kiss??

Have tegan and sara recorded this song and put it on cd or vinyl or something? There's this one and like loadsa others on here (eg. beauty, celebration, falling asleep, lately, one month, your love just to name a few) that I can't find to buy anywhere. Am I being thick or did they just never release it?

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
