"The Happy Prole" as written by and Samuel J. Coomes....
Everyday we earn our meager pay
But it takes its toll to play the happy prole.
The buy your labor, try to steal your soul -
Bite the bullet, hold your tongue and play the happy prole.
Paranoid and tired - quit before you're fired.
But they've got you in the hole, so you play happy prole.
You need the money so you got to play it dumb,
but if you play it long enough it's just what you become.
Pay your rent, pay your bills, pay the doctor for your pills
So you can work another day, as life slips away.

General CommentThis song, for me, contains the best middle eight of all time:

    >You need the money so you got to play it dumb,
but if you play it long enough it's just what you become.

    Supoib!

General CommentYes! I love that same line

You need the money so you got to play it dumb,
but if you play it long enough it's just what you become.

It speaks to me too because I've felt like that before - like I was dumbing myself down to get through the day at work. L:uckily I caught myself before I got too dumb... I think!

General CommentSaw them open for sebadoh last night and they played this. It was awesome. I really felt the music and lyrics and I wanted to take charge of my life. Do something I feel is meaningful or at least interesting.

Then this morning I got up and drove to work. The happy f***ing prole.
