"Make Me Smile (come Up And See Me)" as written by and Steve Harley....
you've done it all, you've broken every code
and pulled the rebel to the floor
you spoilt the game, no matter what you say
for only metal - what a bore!

blue eyes, blue eyes
how can you tell so many lies?

come up and see me, make me smile
or do what you want, running wild

there's nothing left
all gone and run away
maybe you'll tarry for a while
it's just a test, a game for us to play
win or lose, it's hard to smile

resist, resist
it's from yourself you have to hide

come up and see me, make me smile
or do what you want, running wild

there ain't no more, you've taken everything
from my belief in mother earth
can you ignore my faith in everything
cos i know what faith is, and what it's worth

away, away
and don't say maybe you'll try

to come up and see me, make me smile
or do what you want, running wild

(repeat to fade)

General CommentYeh, this was about the singers previous band members, they all quit on him before he made the big time and he just wanted it back the way it was.

Bet they wished they had took his advice now.

General CommentThe way Harley interprets (sings and pronounces)lyrics is a brilliant memory of the former London we all love.
Today all we see around are the Russkies and da men. Who will come up and make us smile?

General CommentI love this song, it's one that makes you smile whenever it's played. Which is kind of good really, considering the song title.

General CommentI heard this song was about Steve Harley's previous band members. In any case it's very scathing and could apply to former friemds, partners who have stabbed you in the back.
