"Darkness" as written by David Draiman, Dan Donegan, Steve Kmak and Mike Wengren....
Don't turn away
I pray you've heard
The words I've spoken
Dare to believe
For one last time
And then I'll let the

Darkness cover me
Deny everything
Slowly walk away
To breathe again
On my own

Carry me away
I need your strength
To get me through this
Dare to believe
For one last time
And then I'll let the

Darkness cover me
Deny everything
Slowly walk away
To breathe again
On my own [Repeat x5]

General CommentThis is just my personal opinion.

I think this song is about surviving suicide.
He talks about letting the metaphorical "Darkness" in his own heart take over and overcoming it and being able to "Breathe on my own again."

That's just my interpretation of it though.

General CommentI can't believe what everyone thinks the song is about. David has addressed it NUMEROUS times in interviews and even on stage a time or two. It is NOT some silly song to his fans. It is Not about suicide. It is a heartfelt expression of his emotional journey following the sudden death of his grandfather in Israel.

General CommentThis is a rare, slow, soulful and beautiful song, it reminds me of 'Bother' by Corey Taylor.

oh, By the Way, I ordered Believe through a website and I got it today (Monday 16th), A Fuckin' Day EARLY!!!!

    I pray you’ve heard
    The words I’ve spoken
    Dare to believe
    For one last time

He had an argument with someone, spoke irrationaly, didn't mean the things he said. He's begging her not to leave. He pronounces love for her, and hopes she realizes that he's telling the truth.

    And then I’ll let the
    Darkness cover me
    Deny everything
    Slowly walk away
    To breathe again
    On my own

She believes him, he can surrender himself to himself. He feels safe.

    Carry me away
    I need your strength
    To get me through this
    Dare to believe
    For the one last time

He draws upon her to get through a depression, she sticks with him. He really begins to believe that someone gives a fuck about him. he finds it comforting.

    That's just my opinion though.

General CommentIf I remember correctly, Dave dedicated this song to his grandfather, i'm not 100% certain, but it does tell about losing someone really important and dear to you and the darkness that comes with it. This analogy is similar to other posts, but thought I would put it out there.

General Commentamazing song by my favorite metal group. Even though it's not metal, it's the best flowing and relaxing song to come along in a long time.

General CommentThis is my favorite song off of "Believe", which by the way, is like, THE BEST cd! I got it the day it came out, and met Disturbed(for the 2nd time) 2 days later....I think this song is like, to the fans, and just to people who hear the music, and he wants them to believe and to understand what he's trying to say, and that they should stay and listen, and not just look away....that's just what I think. Dave Draimen=Talent(and good looking) =)
