I wish I want to stay here
I wish this be enough
I wish I only love you
I wish simplicity

Look at the speed out there
It magnetizes me to it
And I have no fear
I'm only into this to

Enjoy

Enjoy

I wish I'd only look
And didn't have to touch
I wish I'd only smell this
And didn't have to taste

How can I ignore
This is sex without touching
I'm going to explore
I'm only into this to

Enjoy

    Song Meaning

Everyone seems to presume that this song is about a man, or sex. But this is not the case, and quite frankly, unsatisfyingly simplistic. The entire album Post was, conceptually, a collection of musical "letters" to different individuals special to her when she moved from Iceland for the first time, to London; hence the name Post. "Army of Me" was to her little brother; "Cover Me" to fellow producer Neelee Hooper; "Possibly Maybe" to ex-lover Stephane Sedounai; "Headphones" to tape-maker Graham Massey; and "I Miss You" to some future, unknown lover.

"Enjoy" is another communique, with an exception: this letter is addressed to a place. London. London is a fast-paced, marvelously diverse metropolis with so much to explore, so much pleasure to offer. Certainly quite different from Iceland. She's excited about it and she can no longer simply visit. She can no longer watch the action from afar in Iceland; it's not that simple to her. She has to touch it with her own hands; she must immerse herself in the experience. It's so intense, it's like "sex without touching", a key lyric that rules out a man as her subject. It's almost an impulse, an instinct that she knows she must follow. It's a sacrifice; she's leaving her family behind. But she's only in this to enjoy! She'll be back. And eventually she did return to Iceland.

    LUST FOR LIFE!

Life is electric and sometimes she wishes it was easier, and she didn't have to investigate but the entralling things are exciting.

She gets pleasure from the sights and delves in.

vouyerism. nothing more, nothing less. this a magnificent song about it, i really like the way she express the passion and the frustration of it. its simpler, is more enjoyable just watch, just hear, just smell, just feel without compromise, just enjoy... of course is risky, because you could feel tempted to get involved in a very deep situation. its about human nature, we are all tempted to do it, we all do it, not in the same level, but we do it, cause we like to enjoy...

well, I don't see this as a selfishness...to me, it's about this person who is so tempting, she can't resist for very long...she tries staying away, but it attracts her like nothing else... and finally she just gives up the fight and admits that she desires the person, and that she'll let herself enjoy...

very sexy, and one of my favorites of hers as well. i love the build-up and near-frustration-like quality throughout. :q

it reminds me of this awful, loveless "relationship" i had with this guy who was dating this girl i knew. it makes me sick just thinking about it, and this song is so fitting.

it can go two ways- it can either be that the woman or in this case bjork wants it all and is only into this to enjoy OR that the other person is into it to enjoy and does not want anything to do with strings attatched or getting to know the person---- oh also it could go like she is recognizing that sometimes you just want to be in something for yourself- one night stands- a night out dancing- nothing too extreme- just let go and be yourself and be crazy sometimes not necessarily that you're a bad person but that you just want to have fun at given times

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
