What have I done wrong that I should be sorry?
You broke my heart, you left in no hurry
What I'm sorry for is all those wasted days,
all those wasted ways that I loved you.

What didn't I do that made you want to leave me
My life was so full, now it seems so empty
What I didn't do was love you every night
Like I wanted to be alive if I couldn't love you

Well I'll find another before this nights over
She may not be you, I might not be sober
But I'll make love with her till the morning light
Thinkin all the while how I could love you

Now what have I done wrong that I should be sorry
What have I done wrong that I should be sorry
What have I done wrong, what have I done wrong
that I should be sorry, I should be sorry

General CommentAt first it sounds like he regrets the "wasted days" he spent with a girl who dumps him, but then when he thinks about sleeping with other girls he comes to the conclusion that he still loves her. ("I'll make love with her till the morning light
Thinkin all the while how I could love you"). He doesn't know what he did wrong. ("What have I done wrong?")

I hate being dumped when I haven't done anything wrong...
