"Vehicle" as written by and James Peterik....
Hey well
I'm a friendly stranger in a black sedan
Won't you hop inside my car.
I got pictures, got candy
I'm a lovable man
And I can take you to the nearest star.
I'm your vehicle baby
I'll take you anywhere you want to go.
I'm your vehicle woman
But I'm not sure you know
That I love ya
I need ya
I want ya,
Got to have you child,
Great God in heaven you know I love you.
Well if you want to be a movie star
I'll get a ticket to Hollywood.
But if you want to stay just the way you are
You know I think you really should.
I'm your vehicle baby
I'll take you anywhere you want to go.
I'm your vehicle woman
But I'm not sure you know
That I love ya
I need ya
I want ya,
Got to have you child,
Great God in heaven you know I love you.
Hey well
I'm a friendly stranger in a black sedan
Won't you hop inside my car.
I got pictures, got candy
I'm a lovable man
And I can take you to the nearest star.
I'm your vehicle baby
I'll take you anywhere you want to go.
I'm your vehicle woman
But I'm not sure you know
That I love ya
I need ya
I want ya,
Got to have you child,
Great God in heaven you know I love you.
And I'm your vehicle babe.
You know
I love ya
I need ya
I want ya,
Got to have you child,
Great God in heaven you know I love you.

General CommentI think that, beneath the hot-as-shit horns, this song is dark. Real dark.

The band is called The Ides of March. Clearly this song is about death and conspiracy.

"I'm the friendly stranger in a black sedan, won't you hop inside my car".

I will not, if I know what's good for me. Some friends stab you in the back, the bitches.

I do not want your pictures. Nor do I want your candy. I assume they are pornographic and poison.

The horn part itself reflects the horny themes of the song. What else does one associate with horns?

    That bastard Mephistopheles, that's who.

Fucking hell I'm horny right now. I'd put it in a goat.

General CommentAlways thought this song was by Blood Sweat and Tears. Great lyrics reminds me of the funny T-shirt that says "I'm the man your mother warned you about".

General CommentIf you recall the album cover you will realize that this song is ominous. It shows a little girl's doll by the side of the road. I get the impression that the "friendly stranger" uses "pictures and candy" to entice and kidnap underage girls for very sick purposes. Perhaps he is Ted Bundy, a serial murderer. Despite being a hell of I song, #1 I believe at the turn of the 60s/70s this song gets no airplay now. Yes, it sounds like Blood Sweat and Tears but this was a bizarre time, Vietnam, white dope, the happy days of the 50-60s gone. Other weird songs include Timothy by the Bouys, that dealt with 2 men trapped in a mine shaft eating the 3rd guy. You never hear this one now either. Even Barbara Streisand came out with a cover of Laura Nyro's earlier statement on suicide, Stoney End, in 1970.
