In days of old
When the books were untold
Speak of a world crushed by sin.
"The people will mourn
of a war to be born"
Nobody would listen to him.
Think back in time
When the future you find
Is so faint that it's too hard to see.
Don't disavow his word
For the truth must be heard
Cause the preacher tells visions he sees.

In 1906
Like the future predicts
The city will crumble to the bay
Then what's in store
When the worlds go to war?
Peace will have come another day
Then came the one
In the year of '41
Warfare would light up the sky
He beckoned the call
Of the future for all
Blinded by what's in his eyes

In days of old
When the books were untold
Speak of a world crushed by sin.
"The people will mourn
of a war to be born"
Nobody would listen to him.
Think back in time
When the future you find
Is so faint that it's too hard to see.
Don't disavow his word
For the truth must be heard
Cause the preacher tells visions he sees.

Listen to these words I preach
Catastrophic lessons they shall teach

Listen to these words I preach
Catastrophic lessons they shall teach

"Like the future predicts" - finding meaning, a posteriori style, for an obscure prophecy... written some ~2k years ago perhaps?

"Warfare would light up the sky He beckoned the call" - the 'warfare' beckoned the call, the prophecy is fulfilled once again. the total destruction did not occur back then, in 66-73 A.D. but is somehow sought of (many of) us. guns don't kill people, we do (our foolishness/mentality/gullibility). like leonard cohen said: 'did you go crazy or did you report?' (on the day they wounded your hometown or whatever)'...

"The people will mourn of a war to be born" - they will mourn because the new religion would preach empire expansion by excuse of spreading the gospel. the new hybrid saviour would really be an apollyion. bellum omnium erga omnes. like my dying bride entitled one of their songs: "my hope, the destroyer". apollyon/abaddon/destruction (personified). careful what you wish... people will mourn because of the holy war endeavoured/provoked by them.

"Think back in time When the future you find Is so faint that it's too hard to see." - the present you live in is so obscure to understand because some veil was pulled over your eyes so you would not see your husband on your christmas eve. nimrod ben shit.

    ... ... ...

what i like best about testament is their jazz-like humour. brandy new testament.

but i may be wrong. maybe the moon is made of cheese. or it's just a sun at night, so when you walk in golden halls you get to keep the prophecy that fails, it's heaven and hell, pasta and cheese. spaghetti monster.

in the beginning was the cookie and the cookie was where's it's at: at the cookie monster. the monster was pithagoras and the snake was a triangular number, ready to strike the infidel really hard. spank the infidel wherever it may be found.

oh, the pain... the shining... i hope my prophecy am not disappoint you.

This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
