"Free Fall" as written by and Jesper Claes Haakan/gelotte Stroemblad....
Mirror mirror
How far will I go?
Despite the foundation, I am falling
Sweet reflection
Will you save a place for me?

Where am I heading?
Could you grant me a haven?
For what?
I am punished, could I ever repent?

Mother Nature, I'm wide open
Waiting for you to move me

Don't keep it from me
This is a free fall

I never seem to understand
The time, the place and who I am
Define a way to stay alive
It's like I'm living a lie

Father time, every time I stop and feel
You're there to tell me I'm already late

Don't keep it from me
This is a free fall

I never seem to understand
The time, the place and who I am
It's like I'm living a lie

I never seem to understand
The time, the place and who I am
Define a way to stay alive
It's like I'm living a lie

General Commentthis is clearly about falling into hole, and not being able to come out and not being able to understand.

General CommentThis song is about falling in desperation, and not being able to see yourself and thigns around you clearly. Just what I've been going through lately. Free fall, falling under and not being able to hold on, becasue everything feels fragile.

My InterpretationI think this song is about the feeling of unconsciousness and powerlessness.

In the first verse, the narrator is looking in the mirror, sees himself and notices that he "can't get up" - he is falling and so he is "out of control". But despite that fact, his reflection looks good, so he asks it whether he could show him a place where he feels the same way as he looks.

In the second verse, the narrator again speaks about that he is out of control of his actions ("where am I heading?!") and he wishes a place to stay and feel save (= haven). Then he asks himself for what he is punished like this and asks how he can escape this helplessness.

In the third verse, the narrator feels that he is a slave to his "nature" and his action just follow his instincts and he waits for them to lead him again.

Then in the chorus the narrator again talks about not knowing what happens to him and it happens to him and that his only thoughts are staying alive - but he is not really "living" a human life and thus "living a lie"

In the last verse the narrator tells us that time is also against him and is making him feel he's always too late for everything in life. The narrator cannot break out of his state of powerlessness - he is inferior to his "natural" instincts and to the limitlessness of time and eventually to his mortality.

General CommentI think this song means how he wants to take his time to enjoy life but when he looks at the big picture he sees all he's done and how much he still has to go, thus realizing how much life is out there and what little he's accomplished in his time. or somethin to that effect.

General Commentin flames just fires away with song after song that fits just right in with my life. its either we all live the same kinda life no matter who you are i guess.

ok, now to the lyrics. Anders wants the free ride through life but all he can find is frustration and confusion as the price in his so called discernment. Seems when everythings going pretty good youre suddenly awakened to see the deadly truth and worthlessness in your own ambition.

by the way i can play the intro to this on the marimbas yay!

General CommentI think this song is about drugs, or slipping deeper into an addiction without any care. With lyrics like "I never seem to understand, the time and place and who I am", "it's like I'm living a lie", "don't keep it from me, this is a free fall" and "mother nature I'm wide open, waiting for you to move me".

General Commentsometimes. anders writes them, jesper writes them, niklas sundin of dark tranquillity even wrote some, the ones from whoracle. awesome lyricallist.

at first this song used to seem eerily like a suicide note (dun dun dunn) well, not eerily, but like a suicide note, nonetheless. now i think i'm with the worthlessness of our lives idea.
