"Drifter" as written by and Jesper Claes Haakan/gelotte Stroemblad....
It's hard to believe
You could be such a disease
I can no longer separate what's real
Hope that fate will find me safe

All my reflections laugh at me
You made me hide my name
It just feels bad to say
That there'll be another day

What you wanted was impossible to define
The words I hear are of scrambled letters
Guess it's been there for years
It never let me know I was alright

What you wanted was a mystery to me
The words I hear are of scrambled letters
Guess it's been there for years
It never let me know I was alright

Building a room with no doors
Is this the last of me?
Wring the rag for the last few drops
Falling into infinity

What you wanted was impossible to define
The words I hear are of scrambled letters
Guess it's been there for years
It never let me know I was alright

What you wanted was a mystery to me
The words I hear are of scrambled letters
Guess it's been there for years
It never let me know I was alright

General CommentTo me at least, from experience, it's about a chick that just kind of...take over your life. You kind of lose your own identity and you try so hard to do stuff for them, when really even they dont appear to know what they want..."What you wanted was impossible to define". Or possibly they're asking of something that you cannot do.

General CommentOh man this is DEFINETELY on of IF's best
    songs ever.

This song seems to me to be the "heavy version" of Metaphor if u look at the lyrics.

Basically, like hrvster of sorrw said, some bitch is fuckin with your life, but when he is singing she has already left him.
the song is directed at her though.

    "It’s hard to believe,
you could be such a disease.
I can no longer separate what is real.
Hope that fate will find me safe."

I cannot believe that you're such a horrible person,
you crippled me emotionally, and I have no strength, my only hope lies with fate.

"All my reflections laugh at me,
you made me hide my name.
It just feels bad to say,
    That there’ll be another day."

You've fucked with my self-confidence, and therefore I hate the fact that I'll have to deal with you again.

"Building a room with no doors,
Is this the last of me?
Wring the rag for the last few drops,
    Falling into infinity. "

(this reminds me of the "avoid infinity" part of Trigger")

You've destroyed me, but I guess it's my fault too,
I constantly create problems for myself.

General CommentI don't necessarily think it's about a girlfriend, the references seem to be suitable for much more. While it may have been what anders wrote it about, what it always seemed to me was more your own consciousness, insecurities, and ultimately anger for not finding an adequate direction or soultion in life. Your inner voice can be turbulent.

Song MeaningHey guys, I admit I didn't read every comment on every song from this album, but it seems like I can give you a hint, or at least for some who aren't attached to an interpretation.
(At least to me) The whole album suits well for an individual with borderline personality disorder.
Maybe you have to be in such a case to really understand the lyrics from this point. If that's the case, then stick to other interpretations or make your own with this.
There seems to be a lot of debate about Metaphor, but the track as a whole speaks to me. Borderline. I've chosen to post it under these lyrics because there are less comments here. ;)
