"It's Good to Be in Love" as written by Imogen Jennifer Heap and Guy Sigsworth....
I don't know where to start
Say I'm tired or throw a party
These cucumber eyes are lying
The more that I smile about it

And all my clothes feel like someone's old throwaways
I don't like it
It's good to be in love
It really does suit you
Just like everything
I'm happy you're in love
Because every colour goes where you do

I'm adoring you
It's all good
You're so beautiful
I'm black & blue all over
You're breaking my flow
How could you know what I'm saying about it
When all my clothes feel like someone's old throwaways
I don't like it
It's good to be in love...

I feel so powerless
I've got to stop it somehow
Oh come on, what can I do
Why's it happening
How's it happening without me
How's it happening that he feels it without me
It's good to be in love...

General Commentshe's in love with someone who's in love with someone else.

on the one side, she is happy simply because he's happy. she wouldn't risk losing whatever little she has of him by acting on her feelings, or coming between him and the other person. she's willing to disregard her emotions because he deserves to be in love, even if it's not with her.

however, there's another more selfish side of her that can't stand to see him being in love with anyone else. ("how's it happening without me?") she tries to smile and hide the fact that it's hurting her, but she just can't help but feel second best. ("when all of my clothes feel like somebody's old throwaways")

the song is about the struggle between the two sides. ("i don't know where to start; say i'm tired, or throw a party")

at least that's what it means to me. ^^

General CommentI think when she says her clothes feel like somebody's old throwaways, she may mean that the love she currently has feels worn and used, while he looks glamorous in his new found love. Maybe what she wants isn't necessarily his love but to look and feel as good as him. Then again she says she's adoring him...i dunno exactly what she's jeolous of. But she seems torn between truly wanting him to be happy and at the same time feeling negative that he's moved on. The way I see it when you love someone (I mean truly) their happiness is more important than yours but deep down inside there will always be some resentment.

General Commentso, is she saying that her guy is in love and she's not and she's sorta frustrated about it?
what's all the business about being black and blue all over and breaking her flow?

General CommentIn my opinion, this song seems to me like it's about domestic violence. Some tell-tale lyrics are: "cucumber eyes" and "black and blue all over," and pretty much the entire verse that begins with "...I feel so powerless//I've got to stop it somehow."

It strikes me as such because I've often heard from battered women that she loves her partner intensely, even though he abuses her; that may be illustred by the lyric, "I'm adoring you//it's all good..," etc. To her, the violence and abuse is part of being in love, thus "it's good to be in love."

...Just my take on it. =]

General Commentshe adores someone but it's not mutual. he's in love as well, but with someone else.

"these cucumber eyes are lying the more that i smile about it" - maybe the more she tries to be happy for him being in love, the more she realizes that she's not, and she can't be. her eyes are lying to him?

"all of my clothes feel like somebody's old throwaways" then "it really does suit you" - love suits him, looks great on him, yet she isn't in love like he is - hers is one-sided - so she feels unfit, unpresentable. love doesn't suit her, literally.

"i'm black and blue all over" - she's hurt, she loves him but it's not returned.

blaaaah i dunno, that's how i see it. frou frou is hard to decipher, for me.

General CommentFrom the lyrics I get that her guy is in love with her but she is not in love with him and she is tired of faking it. But when you listen to the song it has more of a sad feeling to it that makes me agree with the other interpretations that she is in love with someone that loves someone else. You just get a different feeling form the song when you listen to it opposed to reading it. Either way, it is another excellent song by Frou Frou.

General Commenti\'m pretty sure that she says \"i\'m happy you\'re in love\" is her being sarcastic, cause the guy is not in love with her. but she is in love with him. she even says \"how\'s it happening without me?\" meaning how can you be in love without me.

    a $#!+y situation...

    General Comment"cucumber eyes"
she's been crying so much that her eyes are puffy, so she puts cucumbers on her eyes to help sooth them and hopefully hide that she's been crying
