"Typical Girls" as written by Viviane Katrina/forster Albertine and Paloma Romero/pollitt Mc Lardy....
Don't create
Don't rebel
Have intuition
Can't decide

Typical girls get upset to quickly
Typical girls can't control themselves
Typical girls are so confusing
Typical girls - you can always tell
Typical girls don't think too clearly
Typical girls are unpredictable (predictable)

Typical girls try to be
Typical girls very well

Typical girls are looking for something
Typical girls fall under spells
Typical girls buy magazines
Typical girls feel like hell
Typical girls worry about spots, fat, and natural smells
Sniky fake smells

Typical girls try to be
Typical girls very well

Don't create
Don't rebel
Have intution
Don't drive well

Typical girls try to be
Typical girls very well

Can't decide what clothes to wear
Typical girls are sensitive
Typical girls are emotional
Typical girls are cruel and bewitching
She's a femme fatale
Typical girls stand by their man
Typical girls are really swell
Typical girls learn how to act shocked
Typical girls don't rebel

Who invented the typical girl?
Who's bringing out the new improved model?
And there's another marketing ploy
Typical girl gets the typical boy

The typical boy gets the typical girl
The typical girl gets the typical boy

Are emotional

General CommentPeople seem to interperet this song a lot more feministically (if it wasn't a word before I just made it one) than I did.

i think this phrase sums it up pretty much.. the rest is just a description of what girls are suppose to represent and be..

marketing ploys, society rules, culture gender definitions.. whichever way you look at it, they place women/girls in a catagory that only allows certain reactions and behaviors from them..

...but the best line would have to be 'typical girls fell like hell'.. trying to conform to what they're suppose to be they end up losing themselves and feeling shitty about it

    i love this song

General CommentSome stuff has changed. I think the riot grrrl revolution did quite a bit. *shrug*
Anyway, I love this song. The meaning is pretty obvious. Oh, and here:

General CommentI like this song. The music is catchy and upbeat and it has a clear message that criticizes gender roles. Sadly, things aren't much different 25 years later.

General Commentbtw, like StephNJ, it is sad that 25 years later not much has changed..

..so once again.. 'who is bringin out the new improved one?'.. i think it's about time us girls stand up and make our own version of what our own typical girl is.. not just new and improve but original too

    ;)
