"Forever and Ever" as written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz....
You may think that I'm talking foolish
You've heard that I'm wild and I'm free
You may wonder how I can promise you now
This love that I feel for you always will be
But you're not just time that I'm killin'
I'm no longer one of those guys
As sure as I live, this love that I give
Is gonna be yours until the day that I die

Oh, baby, I'm gonna love you forever
Forever and ever, amen
As long as old men sit and talk about the weather
As long as old women sit and talk about old men
If you wonder how long I'll be faithful
I'll be happy to tell you again
I'm gonna love you forever and ever
Forever and ever, amen

They say time take its toll on a body
Makes a young girl's brown hair turn gray
Well, honey, I don't care, I ain't in love with your hair
And if it all fell out, well, I'd love you anyway
They say time can play tricks on a mem'ry
Make people forget things they knew
Well, it's easy to see it's happenin' to me
I've already forgotten every woman but you
Oh, darlin', I'm gonna love you forever
Forever and ever, amen

As long as old men sit and talk about the weather
As long as old women sit and talk about old men
If you wonder how long I'll be faithful
Well, just listen to how this song ends
I'm gonna love you forever and ever
Forever and ever, amen
I'm gonna love you forever and ever
Forever and ever, forever and ever
Forever and ever, amen

    General CommentDon't mess with Texas.

This was one of those songs that really got me into country. Just great. I think it means... he's gonna' love her forever and ever. (And with country songs, you never wonder what the sex of the person being sung about is. It sucks when you dig a Depche Mode song, but you get the feeling you're singing along to a song about inhaling peters.) This song surely ranks among the Top 50 love songs.

General CommentRandy Travis is one the best singer/songwriters in the country genre. This song transcends any genre of music because it is about true love. I would love to see a great band cover this song. Every married couple should play this song at their weddings or anniversary parties. This is the best love song of all time without a doubt. Even Lionel Ritchie must have turned his head when heard this song. That's saying something because he's the love song master.

General CommentRandy Travis saved country music in the 1980s with his beautiful voice and songs like this. No one has a deep, beautiful voice like Randy Travis. "Forever and Ever, Amen" ranks among the top country songs all time, literallly. Some rankings have it as high as #16. Seems like I did research but I am just a huge Randy Travis fan :p

General Comment"Country musicians don't even know how to play guitar correctly."

not that im a fan of country, i simply tolerate it, but country has some of the greatest guitarists of all time. they may not shred like eddie or satch or whoever else, but they can definantly play. im sure some of the best guitarists would attest to that.

General Commentwindowmaker...can you enlighten us w/some examples of country songs that only talk about Texas and/or trucks? I've heard hundreds of country songs and can only think of two off the top of my head that match your "fact."
