What's the deal with your dad?
He don't even know my name
Didn't know he'd be back
Didn't know he'd be mad
No one stayed to share the blame
I didn't mean to do that
She won't even come around
Every time I look back
Didn't realize that
I was better off than now

Mothers came and cried for Abel
Brother Cain survived the century's end
All the time that I thought was my friend
Be all right till we get back again

Heaven knows you are right (and they will never drag you down)
And they will never drag you down (there ain't time to lose sight)
There ain't time to lose sight
Getting lost in the light
Is more than never being found

Mothers came and cried for Abel
Brother Cain survived the century's end
All the time that I thought was my friend
Be all right till we get back again

I never could go back (and I could never leave my home)
And I could never leave my home (and why'd they change a face like that?)
And why'd they change a face like that?
If I'd never seen ya
I could always dream that
I'd be better off alone

Mothers came and cried for Abel
Brother Cain survived the century's end
All the time that I thought was my friend
Be all right till we get back again
Be all right till we get back again
Be all right till we get back again

General CommentThis is a song preformed in their Road Apples days. First played in 1990. Played on the radio in 1992. great song, never has, or will make it to CD. I think they will keep it as a crowd pleaser.

General Commentthe first time i heard this song i was thinking bout an old friend....i think its about a lover and such....but to me its all about convincing yourself that you are better off without someone because u know how much u belong together
