One day I woke up, I woke up knowing
Today is the day I will die
Ca$hdogg was barking, went to the park and
Enjoyed it one last time
I called my mother, told her I loved her
And I begged her not to cry
I wrote a letter that said I'd miss her
And I signed that goodbye

You know the happiest day of my life
I swear, the happiest day of my life
Is the day that I die

Can you feel the cold tonight? (The day that I die)
It sets in, but it's alright (the day that I die)
Darkness falls, I'm letting go (the day that I die)
All alone, but I feel fine

We took a drive and we drove through DC
To see the places we lived
Long conversations, we talked of old friends
And all the things that we did
The summer nights, drunken fights
Mistakes we made, did we live it right?

You know the happiest day of my life
I swear the happiest day of my life
Is the day that I die

Can you feel the cold tonight? (The day that I die)
It sets in, but it's alright (the day that I die)
Darkness falls, I'm letting go (the day that I die)
All alone but I feel just fine

You know the happiest day of my life
I know the happiest day of my life
I swear the happiest day of my life
Is the day that I die

Can you feel the cold tonight? (The day that I die)
It sets, but it's alright (the day that I die)
Darkness falls, I'm letting go (the day that I die)
All alone, but I feel fine

Did I live it right? (Day that I die)
I hope I lived it right (day that I die)
Did I live it right? (Day that I die)
Did I live it right?
I hope I lived it right (day that I die)
I know I lived it right

hasn't anyone ever asked you what you would do if you knew you only had 24 hours to live? i think thy're just telling how they would spend their last day alive. not neccessarily by suicide. and its the happiest not only because it all ends but becaues its a day full of love and memories. i luv benji

To me that's about suicide. Someone who can't handle or cope w/life and they feel that the best thing to do is kill themselves, so that they think that's the best day of their life. Quite sad when you think of it like that, but I believe that it's true, I haven't really listened to Good Charlotte, but my friend LOVES them, even has an e-mail address kind of about them..LoL.. And so he has a goood taste in music, so I think I'd like these... :) Enough randomness.. bwahah!

this song seems almost about suicide, but not quite. if it IS about suicide, it's what he'd imagine someone who commits suicide would feel and not what he's ever felt himself. it seems to me that this song is about what would happen if he knew he was going to die and how it was a good day because he took control over his life and had a good time remembering how he lived and didnt regret anything.

wow. this song made me cry. i havent heard it yet, cuz thier new cd isn't out yet..but the lyrics just made me cry. they sure have grown lyrically, from cute songs like "walk by" to this. i mean their other songs are deep and meaningful..but still. i know..this is kinda depressing. their others songs are usually kinda upbeat. and to me, it's about suicide. which is sad, cuz they've always been my "cheer up sure life sucks but it'll get better" band. oh well. enough rambling. this sounds like a great song and i love the lyrics. even if it's kinda sad. buti'm a more of an emo-core girl, so all my music is sad. yes..adding to my collection. lol..

i really like this song. it's an acoustic song, and it's not joel that sings lead, benji does. i think it sounds really good. it is a really sad song, but i tend to like sad songs.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
