"Go Down" as written by and Sam Phillips....
You face the blue and wish the roof would open up
But arches of commerce have made the sky corrupt

Go down

Break the code of death for profit break the guns
Break the silence of money break the greedy unison

Go down

Maybe someday you'll come back to me

Find the mystical connection find the dreams
Under cynical wreckage find the winding conscious stream

Go down

Maybe someday you'll come back to me

General CommentAt first I thought it was about the way the U.S. goes about its economic and industrial business..the obvious and somewhat ironic references-consider she wrote this many years before Enron, etc.- but the part of the song b etween verses that is not listed in the lyrics- it sounds like she says "divorce, not yet". This turns the song into a lament about a failed marriage. If manyone knows for sure what the words are in this part of the song please let us know.
