*who killed the rock?*
--ROCK AND ROLL IS DEAD
as is the bludgeoned, bloody reader
but sales are going fine
radio free california from its own demise
we cant speak easy with the TV loud
where independents trade their freedom to reach a bigger crowd
run in circles
jumping hurdles
you will realize that it wasn't jesus
Chorus
i will tell you who killed the rock
--the business man
dressed in the skins of dead musicians
dressed in dollar signs
i have not met this man, but i'm still afraid
he'll chop up my children, then package with ribbon
and still get paid
rock and roll is helpless
as is the injured, prisoned author
cant break the fourth wall they built a fifth
with agents, producers, and lawyers (voyeurs!)
alright! indie labels bring rocks to gun fights
just to get dirt kicked in their eyes
seconds before they die
run in circles
jumping hurdles
you will realize it wasn't the whitehouse
Chorus
you fell for that twice?
and how many times before have we "got the fuck up"?
because tackling your friends distracts you from song
with your "E, F, E, F, E" has something gone terribly wrong?
or are you perfectly alright with all these fat rap-rock white boys on the mic?
i'm not naked - im nude
not naive - but prude
thus making me wicked tightness DUDE
Chorus

Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,

Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
