"The Last Song" as written by Tyler Patrick Connolly, Timothy R. Hart, Dean Henning Back, David J. Brenner and Chad Robert Kroeger....
The last song
The light that's in your eyes, like everyone wants it to be
Well can't you see that it must be this way
Who knows who's wrong or right
Just as long as you're here tonight
Just like my mother, always taking my likings away
When nobody's watching us

I missed the last song
I blame myself for just standing there too long
I missed the last song
I blame myself for just standing there

I miss the love, I miss the holidays
I miss my best friend, cheap cigars, stupid kids and movie stars
And just like my father, always taking my likings away
When nobody's watching us

I missed the last song
I blame myself for just standing there too long
I missed the last song
I blame myself for just standing there too long

Why does it feel like this world is just not for us
Why does it feel like this world's all they've got for us
Why does it feel like nobody's watching us

I missed her sweet smell, I miss it everyday
I miss my best friend, cheap cigars, stupid kids and moviestars
And I missed the last song and I miss you
And this time this one's for us

I missed the last song
I blame myself for just standing there too long
I missed the last song
I blame myself for just standing there too long
I missed the last song
I missed the last song
I missed the last song
I missed the last song

General CommentThis song reminds me of when you fall in love with someone but you don't have the courage to get to know them and you wait too long "I blame myself for just standing there too long" and then they find someone else to be with. Missing the last song is like missing out on the chance with the greatest girl you know.

General Commenti totally agree!! i can't say that i totally relate to this song.. but it is "soo beatiful, sooo melodic, and soo melancholy." theory does such a good job of this song.. tyler is an amazing song writer.. keep it up.. theory's AMAZING!!:):)

General Commentdammit, they erased my opinion and comments ....ARRRGHHH
But there's a trickle of it in nickelbackchicks post...if I remember correctly, it went something like this: "I can relate wholeheartedly with this tune...it's almost as if the words were being uttered through my own memories...The song itself is so beautiful, so melodic and so meloncholy. Tyler does an excellent job in corresponding his vibrant voice to the lyrics . Amazing tune.

General CommentThis song Is about The thoughts of someone who Is about to commit suicide. I read It on their website. The original title of this song was "Theory of A deadman" which Is where they got their name.

General CommentThis song is about a guy contemplating suicide and then realizing all the things that he is going to miss if he does " I miss my best friends cheap cigars stupid kids and movie starts"
That is actually what this song is about.. I seen it in a theory interveiw. But whether or not the guy in this song kills himself is up to the listener

General CommentI think this song could also mean something about missing an opportunity, and that "last song" would be what would happen if he had taken that opportunity... Of course, I just came up with this idea on my own =/.

General CommentThis song makes me think so much about my sister who died a year ago, it seems more about a guy/girl breaking up but whenever I hear it it makes me think about the circumstances of which she died and how it could have been prevented and all of the good times we had. whatever, its the internet.

I love and miss you meg.
