"Hero" as written by Paul Michael Barry, Mark Taylor and Enrique Iglesias....
Would you dance if I asked you to dance?
Or would you run and never look back?
Would you cry if you saw me crying?
And would you save my soul tonight?
Would you tremble if I touched your lips?
Or would you laugh? Oh, please tell me this.
Now would you die for the one you love?
Oh hold me in your arms tonight.

I can be your hero baby
I can kiss away the pain
I will stand by you forever
You can take my breath away

Would you swear that you'll always be mine
Or would you lie? Would you run and hide?
Am I in too deep? Have I lost my mind?
I don't care. You're here tonight

I can be your hero baby
I can kiss away the pain
I will stand by you forever
You can take my breath away

    General CommentIncredible song!
I believe the man does want to be her hero, but he's also posing questions to her that are very relevant to what a TRUE love relationship requires, yet doing so with an apparent vulnerability based on the alternatives he gives when asking the question that would make it something more than just "the here and now".

The words... "Am I in to deep? Have I lost my mind? I don't care you're here tonight." Signify to me that though he's feeling vulnerable, he's also feeling that even if this is all he is to have...it's worth it to him because he truly loves her. You know...the old saying of..."It's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all".

When you truly love someone you do cry inside when you see them crying, you would do anything to save their soul, you would die for them, (though not in a physical sense, but to self agandas and ambitions), you do tremble when they touch you in the way "touched your lips" comes across, you would swear that you'll always be with them, stand by them forever, yet at the same time...question if you are in too deep due to the overwhelming need you have to, for, and with that one person. Anytime something is that real, that much a part of you...there is an incredible sense of vulnerability at hand due to the risk you take of losing, not only that person, but also part of yourself which that one person carries with them always.

To me, and I know words can be interpreted differently, when he says...
"I will stand by you forever
You can take my breath away"
He is telling her that he is in it for the long haul, that he is totally and completely devoted to her and their love. That when he dies, it will be with her right there beside him, taking the last breath from his body.

General CommentHere is the Spanish version Translated dirctly:

Si una vez yo pudiera llegar = If, once, I could manage
A erizar de frio tu piel = to make your skin bristle with cold
A quemar que se yo, tu boca = to burn, I don't know, your mouth
Y morirme alli despues = and there die afterwards
Y si entonces = and if, after that,
Temblaras por mi = you trembled for me
Lloraras al verme sufrir = and cried upon seeing me suffer,
Hay sin dudar tu vida entera dar = you would have, without doubt, all your life to give
Como yo la doy por ti. = as I give mine for you.

Si supieras = If you knew
La locura que llevo = the madness I bear
Que me hiere = that hurts me
Y me mata por dentro = and kills me inside
Y que mas da = and what more gives (?)
Mira que al final = see that in the end
Lo que importa es que te quiero = what matters is that I love you

Si pudiera ser tu heroe = If I could be your hero
Si pudiera ser tu dios = If I could be your god
Que salvarte a ti mil veces = to save you a thousand times
Puede ser mi salvacion =can be my salvation

Dejame tocarte, quiero acariciarte = let me touch you, I want to caress you
Una vez mas, mira que al final = one more time, see that in the end
Lo que importa es que te quiero = what matters is that I want you

They both mean different thigns :|

General CommentFor women "Hero" is like chocolate in music form.

For men "Hero" is like shopping with their wife/girlfriend.

For me "Hero" is shopping for chocolate.

I hate it so much I love it.

    Damn you Enrique!

General CommentI think this song is talking about how, the man, wants to be the womans hero right now and not wait until later for he knows that he might not have the chance.

General CommentI almost lost my brother on September 11 2001, he is an emt for FDNY. All the men in my family are volunteer firefighters. Although I know this song was written before then, every time I hear it I am reminded that all the friends my family has mourned in the past 7 months loved us enough to run and never look back. They will always be our heros
