My hopes just fell, and I can't see
The reason why, why there is blood on my sleeve
And all this time, I thought it mine
But it's not, it's yours and

It's not worth it for me, gets harder every time I call you
This life you lead, like us living in a shiny ballroom

Next time you bleed, right about this time tomorrow
Next time you steal, better ask before you borrow

Oh

And I don't see too well, don't sing too well
And so I settle to scream
Just grab your shit, and leave with it
They won't make no statues of you

It's not worth it for me, gets harder every time call you
This life you lead, like us living in a shiny ballroom

Next time you bleed, right about this time tomorrow
Next time you steal, better ask before you borrow
This label "thief", find a better title suited for you
This tidal wave, is coming down upon you, oh

This time I've forgotten
I swear this shit was rotten
This time, I believe it
'Cause I've seen the shit you're needin'

It's not worth it for me, gets harder every time call you
This life you lead, like us living in a shiny ballroom

Next time you bleed, right about this time tomorrow
Next time you steal, better ask before you borrow
This label "thief", find a better title suited for you
This tidal wave, is coming down upon you, oh

i think this song is about drug abuse. his friend uses drugs and it's not worth it to him to remain friends with this guy and watch him slowly kill himself.

I love this song too. But I think its about a woman he just can't handle anymore. And all this time he thought he was the problem, that he could fix it, but now he realizes it's her that is so difficult and he's tired of playing her game. Especially the part where he says "next time you bleed" I think he's referring to next time you try this *hit you will be the one that hurts. I also think it's about a woman because of the reference to "label theif, find a better title suited for you." She's doesn't have the right to call herself a "girlfriend" because she doesn't treat him nice.

This one a friends drug abuse. It's hard to watch someone throw their life down the drain, hence gets harder everytime I call you. Bleeding same time tomorrow shows habit and reference to theft is just the type of behavior for someone about to hit bottom.

It does sound to me like this is about a friend who has a drug problem, but I also think that he is the one who got his friend started on it, or vice versa. "My hopes just fell...and I can't see...the reason why...why there is blood on my sleeve...and all this time, I thought it mine, but it's not it's yours" And although this guy is doing drugs, he must be making some money or living the high life. "This life you lead, like swimming in a shiny ballroom." But obviously, this guy's been stealing from his friend, after he tried to help him with his problem. "This label 'thief' find a better title suited for you". Also, "this title wave, is coming down upon you" this easy life this guy's been living, is about to go down the drain "this life you leave like SWIMMING in a shiny ballroom" and he's about to send this guy packing "just pack your shit and leave with it".

Love this song. Brilliant. About (in my personal opinion anyway) someone with depression and a drug addiction and hes stealing from his friend. His friend knew but didnt do anything because, obviously, hes his friend but he just couldnt take it anymore. Or if you want to put a deeper meaning to it he could be emotionally stealing things. Depends what an individual thinks it is though

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
