"Who you fucking now?"
I use my slit wrist
To sign my name with
And when you can't compete with the Joneses
Gun 'em all down
(even the father).
You filthy whore.
Shut up and swallow my pride for me.
Move closer or drive farther.
Suck on the end of this dick that cums lead,
But first I'm coming after you all.

It's ladies night at the bar
But she smokes a man's cigar.
I guess she's dying.
Oh well.
I don't give a fuck about your dignity.
That's the bastard in me.

I know a girl
Who sells herself around
And I'm sure one day
She'll sign autographs in your town.

Looking back into my diary
What makes me say those things?
What causes my laughter at another's disease?
It's the bastard in me.

You live in shit
And you will eat your own way out.
I am too fly and shy
Like no other guy.

Too fly and shy just for you.

I'll mark you all.

Daryl says: "...It's about a situation here at home where I myself, and a few of my friends watched women that were important in our lives give us the attention that we deserved. We watched these whores fuck our friends, more specifically a close friend of mine who was in a relationship with someone who would just string him along and lead him on. Just totally ridiculous and in an unsavory fashion. She would string him along and wouldn't be with him but would have sex with all his friends. It's typical high school teen melodrama that makes me absolutely fuckin' nauseous."

You hear that scream he does at 1:08 in the song? I've never heard anything more honest in my life.

This song means so much more, aside from just being angry. Sometimes you have to stand up and realize, it wasn't your fault. Daryl is so mad at whatever girl this song is about, whatever she did made him soo angry that he said "YOU LIVE IN SHIT"... Brutal honest truth, as with all GlassJAw songs, this one tells it like it is.

Damn good song. Shows how he feels towards the girl that screwed him over but also shows that he doesn't understand why he gets so angry. "Looking back into my diary, what makes me say these things?" I love how this song switches from angry chaotic music to reflective melodic music in a heartbeat. Something only GlassJAw cam pull off.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
