"Four Walls" as written by and Harry/rollins Stinson....
The thoughts from my mind
Command my lips say I hate you
The thoughts from my mind
Command my hands to cut your silken flesh
The thoughts from my mind
Command my feet to stomp your head
The thoughts from my mind have one question
When will this ever end?

[chorus]
Not much to the life I live
Same four walls
I have nothing left to give
Please take it all away
Same four walls

The thoughts from my mind
Feel the pain as rats claw at my flesh

The thoughts from my mind
Feels the joy as the needles hits my vein
The thoughts from my mind
Smells the stench as shit runs down my leg
The thoughts from my mind ask for sanity
Now for this I beg

[Chorus]

The thoughts from my mind
Command my lips say I hate you
The thoughts from my mind
Command my hands to cut your silken flesh
The thoughts from my mind
Command my feet to stomp your head
The thoughts from my mind have one question
When will I be dead?

[Chorus]

General CommentThis song is about being a heroin addict. He says "Same for walls". If you have ever talked to someone who has done heroin, when they are on the drug they just lay in the same room the whole time. It feels so good that they don't even bother opening their eyes. they just lay in the same spot in the same room. All the want is more heroin. He mentions the needle, and he says "smell the stench as shit runs down my leg". When on heroin, one doesn't even bother going to the bathroom. He is talking about a heroin binge, so he just lays their, going to the bathroom.

General CommentThis song is so good that it makes me feel like shit whenever I listen to it. Almost like what he is saying applies to me, but it doesn't really. It's so fucking weird. This song is awesome.

General CommentJust as a side not, the lyrics for this song were actually written by Mike Mushok and not Aaron Lewis.

General CommentThis song appears to be about a person who addresses another, but he is actually talking to himself. He can’t stand his way of life and feels he has nothing left to offer, so he wants to take his own life. Throughout the song, he is implying that he needs help and begs for sanity. He is so depressed that he states, “There’s nothing left for me” and a gunshot is heard at the end of the song, which makes it appear as though he just committed suicide.

After about ten minutes, a “hidden track” begins with sounds of organ music, and people are moving around and coughing in a large church. The occasion is a funeral. Selections from the Scriptures and a funeral prayer to the gathered living are read. After that, the speaking becomes incomprehensible and demonic sounding voices. I think this indicates the suicide victim’s descent into hell.

    Psalm 121:
I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

    Psalm 23:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

    Funeral prayer:
Oh God, who art full of compassion, thou who dwellest on high. Grant perfect rest beneath the shelter of thy divine presence. In the exalted places among the holy and the pure who shine as the brightness of the firmament to all those who have gone to their eternal home. The piety of whose life forms the subject of our meditation today. We beseech thee oh Lord with compassion. Shelter them evermore under the cover of thy wings and let their souls be bound up with bond of life. May they repose in peace, may they rest in peace, and let us say Amen.

General CommentI think htis song is a suicide note. he's telling himself that his life is meaningless and basically trying to talk himself into pulling the trigger.

General CommentThere is a tid bit about this song is the booklet that came with the staind limited edition cd dvd version of Chapter V. in page 11 of the booklet Aaron says :"The above two songs (Four Walls and Self Destruct) are probably the only times I ever used imagery that wasn't true to my experiences. the reference to needles and bad habits is purely metaphorical. how could I ever partake in something that has taken so many of my heroes away from me?" personally I find this song is about being in a place that seems inescapable. a place were you almost completely lose self control and are controlled by and separated from who u feel you really are by some sort of controlling factor(i.e. drugs) is support this by the repetitive words of the thoughts from my mind ....... P.S. the suicide at the end represents an escape, or the desperation for an escape. feel free 2 email me!!!

General Commentmegamadnan had an interesting point i never thought about that might be why the song is scratched. It is a common, not really grounded , but a common belief that if you commit suicide you go to hell. Me personally i thought the song was garbled like that because to signify the lack of faith in religion. obviously lack of faith in anything if you've lost the will to live.
