God knows I know I'm not sure
But I'll decorate the spine for her
We're not who we might prefer
The motives move so self-asssured

They saddled around me
A black and empty hole
I'm fast and I'm friendly
I begged to reverse the roles, reverse the roles

God knows I know I'm not sure
But I'll decorate the spine for her
We're not who we might prefer
The motives move so self-asssured

They're tearing the bark off, it was already torn
They lie with their hearts crossed
With words that were one
They're broken and breathless
They fall through these folds
We're hopelessly helpless
They begged to reverse the roles, reverse the roles

God knows I know I'm not sure
But I'll decorate the spine for her
We're not who we might prefer
The motives move so self-asssured

General CommentI dont know what this song means, but sometimes its better that way. By far my favorite knapsack song. Lyrically brilliant.

General CommentI'm not 100% but I think the song might be about how the singer isn't perfect or he's broken but he's met somebody he really loves and is willing to do anything to make the relationship work, 'But I'll decorate the spine for her' meaning he'll act interesting or like he's got it going on to please her. Like I said, I'm not 100% on this.
