In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
We're goin' down the road towards tiny cities made of ashes
Gonna hit you on the face gonna punch you in your
Glasses, oh no!
I just got a message that said "Yeah hell is freezin' over"
I Got a phone call from the Lord sayin' "Hey boy get a
Sweater. Right now"
So we're drinkin' drinkin' drinkin' drinkin' coca-coca-cola
I can feel it rollin' right on down
Oh right on down my throat
And as we're headed down the road towards tiny cities
Made of ashes
I'm gonna get dressed up in plastic gonna shake hands
With the masses, oh no!
Does anybody know a way that a body could get away
Does anybody know a way
Were goin' down the road towards tiny cities made of ashes
I'm goin' to hit you on the face I'm goin' to punch you in your
Glasses, oh no!
I'm wearin' myself a t-shirt that says "The world is my ashtray"
Our hearts pump dust and our hairs all gray
And I just got a message sayin' that hell has frozen over
Got a phone call from the Lord sayin' "Hey boy get a
Sweater. Right now!"
Does anybody know a way that a body could get away
Does anybody know a way
Were drinkin' drinkin' drinkin' drinkin' coca-coca-cola
I can feel it rollin' right on down oh right on down my throat
And as we're headed down the road towards tiny cities
Made of ashes
I'm gonna lay down in the spa where they coat you
In molasses, oh no!
Does anybody know a way that a body could get away
Does anybody know a way
Gonna hit you on the face gonna punch you in your
Glasses, oh no!

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
Great song even though i dont know wht it means
What Modest Mouse means in Tiny Cities made of Ashes.<br /> If we take this song two lyrics at a time, I can see three reoccurring themes. The first of which is: humanity is heading for disaster and war, due to our mass manufacturerism, commercialistic habits, and our conflicting religions. The second is more on a single person level rather then the global scale. It is that he is falling apart, and that he is loosing himself to drugs and other practices that damage the body. The third major theme I can see addresses specifically religion and how is effecting him, along side the world!<br /> We are going down a road, towards tiny cities made of ashes. <br /> A. We as humanity are on a path, where he sees the aftermath of the war that has happened!<br /> B. He himself is going down (“We” maybe as in other people in the same boat) a road that is taking his body to its final resting place.<br /> C. This might be referring to Sodom and Gomorrah, which was reduced to ashes because of its filth and sin. <br /> <br /> (I am just trying to look at all avenues not just have a closed mind to any possibility!)<br /> I'm going to hit you on the face I'm going to punch you in your glasses.<br /> A. “I” (possibly meaning the United States or another big country) am going to attack you first, attack you where you are weakest. Meaning that we are not trying to stop, the impending war, we are provoking it.<br /> B. “I”: Meaning the drugs, am going to show on you body and make you more fragile. More noticeable! <br /> C. “I” (Possibly meaning God or the Devil) am going to punish you, for being a sinful city just like he has done in the past. <br /> <br /> (Again, I am just trying to look at all avenues not rule out any possibility!)<br /> Skipping down a few because I don’t have time to do them all!!<br /> Does anybody know a way that a body could get away? Does anybody know a way?<br /> A. How can we avoid it, there has got “to be a way” to steer clear of the impending war.<br /> B. How can he stop, and get clean again?<br /> C. How can you stop the world from its own filth and make it more presentable?<br /> (All of these are pretty much the same answer!)<br /> Lastly we are going to do four lyrics as the finally!<br /> I just got a message Saying that hell has frozen over, got a phone call from the Lord Saying, "Hey, boy, get a sweater right now!"<br /> ABC: Even when we think the evil is stopped or at least slowed the damage is already done. All we can do now is wait for the punishment: The ASHES!! <br /> So the song seems universal with all three, same points, same ending. I think the details don’t matter as long as you understand the point. Plan Ahead, look into the future rather then the now and solve the problems of tomorrow, as if they were here today!!<br /> Drake Richardson <br />
wow...<br /> i never looked at it that way lol
anyone else think of the great gatsby? maybe just the american dream in general
