"Bohemian Polka" as written by and Freddie Mercury....
Is this the real life
Is this just fantasy
Caught in a landslide
No escape from reality
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
'Cause I'm easy come, easy go
Little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me
To me

Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mama, life had just begun
But now I've gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooo
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters

Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Goodbye everybody - I've got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo
I don't want to die
I sometimes wish I'd never been born at all

I see a little silhouetto of a mam
Scaramouch, scaramouch, will you do the Fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning - very, very frightening me
Galileo, Galileo
Galileo, Galileo
Galileo figaro - Magnifico... Hey! Hey! Hey!
I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from this monstrosity
Easy come, easy go, will you let me go?
Bismillah! No, we will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let him go
Bismillah! We will not let you go - let him go
Will not let you go - let him go
Will not let you go - let him go
No, no, no, no, no no no no no!

Oh mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me, for me
For me

So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye
So you think you can love me and leave me to die
Oh, baby - Can't do this to me, baby
Just gotta get out - just gotta get right outta here

Nothing really matters
Anyone can see
Nothing really matters
Nothing really matters to me Anyway the wind blows - Hey!

General CommentUm...I personally think this is the best BR parody ever written. Taking the pretentious lyrics (which I love more than any other song's, by the way) and overblown, bombastic music (see lyrics) and simply putting it to a preposterous tempo, thus exposing exactly how ridiculous BR is in the first place.

Oh, and how exactly can one make a parody without "ripping off" a song? Then...it isn't a parody. 95% of the parodies out there suck. Weird Al, I believe, makes the other ones.

TheChildIsStarfish: get over yourself already. Stop being so judgemental, stop being so annoying, and stop being so self-righteous over a song.

Oh, and sorry if I'm "berrate"-ing you with accusing, judgemental, insulting words.

General CommentStarfish - you are right when you say that this is NOT a parody. It isn't. It's a setting of the Queen song to a polka beat. If you had heard the song yourself, I think you would see the talent in it. And to say that Weird Al has no talent is just wrong. He does parody popular songs, but he also writes a number of songs himself. It takes a certain amount of intelligence (and talent) to fit new words into existing songs (or in this case, to set existing songs to new rhythms). Haven't you ever heard that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery? However, since I know that nothing I say will change your mind, let me invite you to try it yourself sometime and then we'll talk some more.

General CommentAnd Freddie Mercury wasn't strange looking? I realize that in the world of music, Al isn't terribly respected because he parodies other people's songs. However, like I said, half of his repertoire is original music. You're not liking Al because this particular song doesn't have any apparent changes when you read the lyrics. Listen to it sometime, then decide whether or not Al is worthy of your hatred. While you're doing that (which you won't), remember that Al gets permission from the original artists every time he does a parody, or a polka arrangement. Queen got a royalty check for this song. Does a leech pay its host for sucking it's blood? Al is a respectful parasite.

General CommentDoes it matter that this song is NOT a parody of the actual Queen song? I think Weird Al is great, and like asutbone said, he DOES come up with his own stuff too (which is equally as good). If you're going to complain about Weird Al creating a rip-off of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, why don't you take a listen to Robbie Williams version of some of Queen's songs? Now THAT guy is insulting Queen!

General CommentIf you guys really think you could come up with decent parodies (ie starfishchild, whatever) more power to you. It is not easy. Alot of people comment on my musical prowess and intelligence, and still most of my parodies suck because it is very difficult to do well.
And BTW, I believe I read somewhere that Al graduated from high school at 16 and went to a very prestigous college...

General CommentPeople who dont like Weird Al should just move on. Whats the point of leaving messages of hate? Why are you wasting your time?

Weird Al pokes fun at popular culture/music. Much like comedies such as The Simpsons. His parodies are very clever, and his original material is highly creative and entertaining.

    Good stuff.
