"My Lover's Gone" as written by and Dido/catto Armstrong....
My lover's gone
His boots no longer by my door
He left at dawn
And as I slept I felt him go
Returns no more
I will not watch the ocean
My lover's gone
No earthly ships will ever bring him home again
Bring him home again

My lover's gone
I know that kiss will be my last
No more his song
The tune upon his lips has passed
I sing alone
While I watch the ocean
My lover's gone
No earthly ships will ever bring him home again
Bring him home again

My lover's gone
His boots no longer by my door
He left at dawn
And as I slept I felt him go
Returns no more
I will not watch the ocean
My lover's gone
No earthly ships will ever bring him home again
Bring him home again

General Commentthis song makes me think of a woman in the world war one era, whose main man has had to ship off (to the navy, of course) ...

General Commenti didnt used to like this song i found it too repititive and thought the lyrics were too weird but after a while i accepted it and its a really good one to play on guitar if you get a tab. So simple.

General CommentI really like this song, the music has a kind of haunting, ghostly quality that reflets the idea of her dead boyfriend and I like the gentleness of it.

General CommentI love this song... it's beautiful and haunting and... just overall great. It's funny that it makes you think of WWI, catherine, because I always saw it as being earlier... like, 1800's or before, when people used to get lost at sea all the time... can't really explain it though.

General CommentThis song is so depressing I can't listen to it. Especially when my fiance goes out to sea for a few months. It makes me cry and makes me afraid he might not come home.

General CommentDido really has a way of capturing feelings like this. -tears- It makes me think of a woman in Spain (For some reason...)... And her husband went off to fight England. You know that big war thing with all the rebels (Origin of the word punk...) and the armadas?
    That.

General CommentI was out late one time after a night out trying to get over my ex and I walked home... and I stopped at a place overlooking the sea, looking into the cold, dawn sky, whilst listening to this. And d'you know, I've never felt so low in my whole life
