Holy cow! I think I've got one here
Now just what am I supposed to do?
I've got a number of irrational fears
That I'd like to share with you

First, there's rules about old goats like me
Hangin' 'round with chicks like you -but I do like you-
And another one: you say "like" too much

But I'm shaking at your touch
I like you way too much
My baby, I'm afraid I'm falling for you
'N I'd do about anything to get the hell out alive
Or maybe I would rather settle down with you

Holy moly, baby, wouldn't you know it?
Just as I was bustin' loose
I gotta go turn in my rock star card
And get fat and old with you
'Cause I'm a burning a candle you're a gentle month
Teaching me to lick a little bit kinder
And I do like you - you're the lucky one
No! I'm the lucky one

Holy Sweet goddamn! You left your cello in the basement
I admired the glowing the stars
And tried to play a tune'

I can't believe how bad I suck, it's true
What could you possibly see in little ol' 3-chord me?
But it's true - you like me, I like you too
I'm ready, let's do it baby

General Comment:I think this song is about the same girl as "El Scorcho."
This is almost a sequel, it's when he finally works up the nerve to talk to her. These are the thoughts going through his head.

The "Cello in the basement" line I think hints towards El Scorcho's line "Oh, the redhead said you shred the Cello, and I'm jello, baby."
Also, the "I'm shakin' at your touch" has a general "El Scorcho" feel.

I love the line where he says "Silly old 3 chord me."

General Comment:I can relate to this song a lot. It's just about a guy who is shy, the kind of guy who girls don't really give the time of day to. Then, for some reason, a popular, outgoing, beautiful girl shows him affection, really likes him, and it's confusing to him. As he says, "What could you possibly see in little ol' 3-chord me?" He thinks of himself as inadequate, so for this girl, who can get just about any guy she wants, to like him doesn't make sense.

This same thing happened to me. I went to a friend's work to say what's up, and her friend was about to leave work. She asked me to come by again the next night. I did, and after talking for a bit she gave me her number. I couldn't believe it. "Holy cow! I think I got one here. Now just what am I supposed to do?"

The bits about having irrational fears (things like, she's too good for me, she must be wrong about me, I can't POSSIBLY be good enough for her) rings true as well. Is "old goats" correct? I thought it was "a ghost" as in someone who no one pays attention to.

    "'cuz I'm a burning a candle you're a gentle moth
teaching me to lick a little bit kinder
And I do like you - you're the lucky one
    No! I'm the lucky one"

This is about how she's experienced in relationships and love and knows how it goes, whereas he is a complete novice. So he has to learn from her. He starts to gain confidence while in the relationship, saying "You're the lucky one." Then realizes how depressed and lonely he was before this girl, totally out of his league, fell for him, and he concedes that "No, I'm the lucky one."

God damn, this song resonates a lot with me...

General Comment:You like Weezer because you think Rivers is sexy? Great reasoning. It couldn't be because they're talented musicians or anything.

General Comment:This song really grabbed me as soon as it atarted playing. Rivers Cuomo is the only man on the planet who can sing the words "holy moly" and make it sound cool. Also, much like all the other songs on Pinkerton, this one doesn't use conventional rock patterns, giving it a desperate and confused feel that compliments its lyrics. A great song

General Comment:First of all i don't like weezer because he is sexy, inever said that, i like the band because they are incredibly talented. All i said is that Rivers is sexy, that has nothing to do wiht their music abilities.

General Comment:No, it doesn't have anything to do with their abilities. That is exactly why I thought it was so lame that you mentioned it.

General Comment:I think this song is about marriage. I think it's about Rivers chosing between his woman being his woman forever or his career that he totally loves and has dreamt about his whole life.
