Sometimes I feel like I'm falling
Fall back again, fall back again,
Fall back again, fall back again
Oh, life it seems a struggle between
What we think what we see
I'm not going to change my ways
Just to please you or appease you
Inside a crowd, five billion proud
Willing to punch it out
Right, wrong, weak, strong
Ashes to ashes all fall down
Look around about this round
About this merry-go-round around
If at all God's gaze upon us fall
His mischievous grin, look at him

Forget about the reasons and
The treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that
Our emotions can be swept away
Forget about being guilty,
We are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Sit awhile with TV's hungry child
Big belly swelled
Oh, for a price of a coke or a smoke
Keep alive those hungy eyes
Take a look at me, what you see in me,
Mirror look at me
Face it all, face it all again

Forget about the reasons and
The treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that your emotions can be
Wept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, i am innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

You seek up an emotion
And our cup is overflowing
You seek up an emotion,
Sometimes your well is dry
You seek up a big monster
For him to fight your wars for you
But when he finds his way to you, the devil's not
Going--ha, ha

Say, say

Look at me in my fancy car
And my bank account
Oh, how I wish I could take it all down
Into my grave, I'd save
Take a look again, take a look again,
Take a look again
Everyday things change,...stay the same

Forget about the reasons and
The treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that
Your emotions can be swept away
Intentions are not wicked,
Don't be tricked into thinking so
Soon we will all find our lives swept away

You seek up an emotion
And our cup is overflowing
You seek up an emotion,
Sometimes your well is dry
You seek up a big monster
For him to fight your wars for you
But when he finds his way to you,
The devil's not going--ha, ha
Fall back again, fall back again, fall back again...

    My Interpretation

To me this song is simply about the rawness of reality.

Sometimes after a long day of working and talking I reflect on the true nature of life; despite everything I do, ultimately I will die.

There's so much in life that distracts us from that fact. We have cars and friends, good food and lovers. We use these things to distract us from the more depressing realities of life, like death, and starving children. We "seek up" certain emotions to distract us but ultimately it will "all be swept away."

To me the song is melancholic reminder of the futility of life. I find it raw. I don't think it's trying to offer a solution or pass a judgement. It simply conveys an experience. That's why I love Dave.

Let me help you guys out here on this one. Everyone always talks about how Dave is anti-materialistic, and he does have that message in some of his songs. But come on people, find a new world! This song is about the apathy of the masses. How we could all ban together and make the world a little better place but we don't. We are willing to make a change (willing to punch it out) but we don't (The struggle between what we see and what we do). actual lyrics God is looking down at us mischievously because he sees how stupid we are. We have the means (fancy car and bank account) to help out those less fortunate but we don't give these things up (won't change my ways just to please you or appease you) because we are too stuborn to give up the comforts of our own lifestyles. Then we play the blame game (the reasons and the treasons we are all seeking) so that we don't have to feel bad about not doing anything about it ourselves. We seek up all these emotions but we are afraid to act on them for whateve reason (guilty about iintentions that aren't wicked). In the end it basically becomes, "well, I want to help but I'm too busy and attached to my own life. But I do feel bad. Isn't that enough?" Dave is begging the listener to seek up something beseides just emotions. Seek up action.

this song is so powerful, each verse addresses something new. I interpret it as a kind of wake up call to everyone sitting around in love with material things, and forgetting to live. Or for that matter ungrateful for the material things which make such a difference in all our lives. "Oh, for a price of a coke or a smoke-Keep alive those hungry eyes" Everyday we judge each other by what we have and not who we are, why cant we all just be open with one another, thanks dave.

The reason I love DMB so much is they always have a message. They just want the world to be a little better and they use their music to help. I, for one, find their music to be the best remedy for everything around me.

This song is telling people to stop being so materialistic because at the end we all die and none of it really matters.

I can't believe that more people didn't write about this song. this is truly one of the bands best. die hard fans know it well. Its a shame that when looking at the #'s for how many people wrote about each song that only the radio hits have over 10 entries. Listen to more than the radio. Listin to the whole cd. you will see his radio stuff isnt nearly as good as the rest. Seek up is a great example of this. Its over 4 minutes long so the radio wont play it. its a shame what the music world is coming to.

seek up on live at red rocks is my favorite song played live that i've ever heard from any band. as far as dmb songs go, it's second only to the dreaming tree.

there are just so many messages in this song. i could cry when he sings so softly on red rocks, "ashes to ashes, dust to dust."

this song totally rocks and i agree with what everyone has says about this song. it is a shame how the radio cant put on songs more than 5 minutes on it. i find 90% of the time the best songs are over 5 minutes long. peace out ya'll

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
