heavier than air fumes
city of chemical

on to karbala

what is the difference between israel's plight
a belief in outside influence

like scalding water
a side effect of
their faces and lungs
burn
a sudden harsh smell
2 weeks after still
coughing and choking
livid skin blisters
burn often

posters leaflets
nightly radio
and television programs
dead instructions in the use
of such basic devices
as a damp towel
lined with charcoal
to be applied to the face and mouth
when the beep beep beep gas attack
warning signal sounds

the dead were among
porcelain face
of cloud of frozen gas poison
jagged fragment

iraqi bombs sun
the first cyanide gas warning

General CommentThis song was my absolute favorite off this album. The drilling was tight and the bass was present and solid. Much of the lyrical content was spoken and what was sung was sung clearly so that the meaning of the song was never really lost on me.

SP were one of the first bands I ever heard sing lyrics that read like word lists. I remember them making that popular.

General CommentIt's already been said. The war, and the chemical weapons. Hell, the samples in the beginning of this song give it away. Either way, it's a brilliant song. One of Skinny Puppy's best.

General CommentYes, the Iran-Iraq war. More specifically, it deals with the Halabja poison gas attack, which occurred on 16 March 1988. Saddam ordered to bomb the Kurdish town of Halabja with chemical weapons. Around 5,000 civilians died and 7,000 were injured. Real horror... Imagine those people dying in the streets, women, children... They should have executed Hussein this way, hanging's not enough.
