"War Ensemble" as written by Tomas Enrique Araya and Jeffery John Hanneman....
Propaganda death ensemble
Burial to be
Corpses rotting through the night
In blood laced misery
Scorched earth the policy
The reason for the singe
The pendulum it shaves the blade
The strafing air blood raid

infiltration push reserves
Encircle the front lines
Supreme art of strategy
Playing on the minds
Bombard till submission
Take all to their graves
Indication of triumph
The number that are dead

[Chorus: x2]
Sport the war, war support
The sport is war, total war
When victory's a massacre
The final swing is not a drill
It's how many people I can kill

Be dead friend from above
When darkness falls
Descend into my sights
Your fallen walls
Spearhead break through the lines
Flanked all around
Soldiers of attrition
Forward their ground
Regime prophetic age
Old in its time
Flowing veins run on through
Deep in the Rhine
Center of the web
All battles scored
What is our war crimes
(Era forever more...war)

Propaganda war ensemble
Burial to be
Bones shining in the night
In blood laced misery
Campaign of elimination
Twisted psychology
When victory is to survive
And death is defeat

Sport the war, war support
The sport is total war
When victory's a massacre
When victory is survival
When this end is a slaughter
The final swing is not a drill
It's how many people I can kill

General CommentI don't think this song is about WW1, nor the Gulf War. I think it's about WW2. They make a referenece to the Rhine river in Germany. The song also has a WW2 feel to it with the lyrics on "strafing air blood raid" and war crimes, and the whole supreme art of strategy thing.

This song is my favorite Slayer song!

General CommentI like the lin 'Sport the war, war support'. I think it's talking about how war has almost become a popular gameshow in recent years. After the Gulf War people want to sit down and be entertained by the war on TV, we've seen this throughout the 90's and post 2000.

General Commentplus the scorched earth policy was developed by the Germans/Nazis in ww2 and "encircle the front lines" was Hitler's strategy to come at them from all sides and take out the front force then spread out from there.......fyi

General Commenti love this fucking song. agressive as fuck with kick ass leads, not to mention toms awesome lyrics.

what pisses me off is these fucks who bag slayer and say they are all about death and destruction. BULLSHIT! they are giving us a reflection of the world we live in.

also i just wanted to add. GOD HATES US ALL!!!!!!

MemoryPretty obvious that this isn't specifically referring to any real war. It is taking elements from both World Wars, taking a very slight German perspective (talking about the Rhine River, which runs along the Franco-German border, a heavy German military area) and discussing an event where this essentially 'made-up' war becomes a public sensation through the use of propaganda. Very much like BOTH World Wars, but not enough specific information (mixed in with some random shit) to really be talking about either of them.

General Commentits clearly speaking out agaisnt war " The final swing is not a drill
It's how many people I can kill" is saying it some what as mocking fighters of war, not supporting it. this is my personal favorite song though.

General CommentIt sounds reminscent of the mentality about war that existed up until after World War I; that war is a game and something that is good. The war tactics and technology in this sound like something from one of the World Wars; battles of attrition were especially common in WWI.
