"A Spider In My Room" as written by and Jim Creeggan....
There's a spider in my room
There's a spider in my room

Then the voice above my head
Said if that spider were made dead
I'd better grow some fins 'cause
It would make it easier to swim

I don't like spiders and snakes
The way they crawl, the way they shake
If a spider gets killed, how does that make it rain?
How could I be the one to blame?

A whisper drizzled down from the ice in its eyes
It said, "Try pickin' on your own damn size."
But the Hoover was quick, termination complete
In its bedroom home not a chance to eat

In the corner beside my bed
Very busy spinning thread
Eight legs and a little head

I hear the thunder from outside
And the water's gettin' high

I don't like moths and bugs
They buzz, they get in the rugs
But where does a guy find some room
In this liferaft home, a little rubber tomb

In the corner beside my bed
Very busy spinning thread
Eight legs and a little head

There's a spider in my room
There's a spider in my room

General CommentThe song title is actually just "Spider In My Room", not "A Spider In My Room", but whatever. It's kinda like "The Old Apartment" vs "Old Apartment". Anyways, for a bit, I was wondering if Jim's an arachnophobe, and judging by the beginning of Sanjuro's comment, apparently he is. Kinda cool to be sure that celebrities are all human and not flawless (though these guys' music come pretty close!), and kinda cool to know that you have something in common with a celebrity or two, other than just handedness or hair/eye/skin color. Something in common with their personality.

Also, to zaphodwhatever, stfu noob, you're talking out your ass. If you want to be an asshat, that's fine. Just not on stuff like this where you can't take back what you said to piss people off. And no, I doubt I'm pissing anyone off because everyone seems to agree with me. Don't talk shit about bosses like BNL.

General CommentDon't be mean, he's only the bass player...I MEAN sure it's a song about killing a spider. this line is important though
"If a spider gets killed how does that make it rain?
How could I be the one to blame? "
It's supposedly an old wives tale about killing spiders causing a week (?) of rain.

Ultimately, the spider probably symbolizes something. Since no one cares or will bother to check and I'm too lazy, I'll stop there. Oh yeah:

General Commenti'm not saying this is only what the song's about, but you could interpret it as a guy who (like most people) isn't superstitious but still worries about it.

General CommentAside from being a self-proclaimed arachnophobic Jim wrote this song about a spider that would hang in the corner of his sandbox as a kid as well as how his brother, John, held 'spider-hunts' and would use a vacumn to suck up a spider in the house. Hence the line about the hoover.

General CommentI think I meant arachnophile, and not arachnophobic.

General CommentI think you meant arachnophobe - an arachophile is someone who loves spiders.
