I really don't think that this song is about God. Its about a girl... You can't physically stand beside God, what he describes is something much more than a connection between man and God. its too beautiful to be about religion. It represents the most deepest, profound love between man and woman,,<br /> <br /> "How can I stand here with you and not be moved by you"<br /> Ive experienced this feeling, when u simpy stand beside your boyfriend* and be so in love with him and so in awe of him and how he makes you feel that it moves you completely. <br /> <br /> I know Lifehouse are a christian band but this does not mean all their songs are about God.

Much more than a relationship between a man and God? There's nothing more than a relationship between a man and God....nothing bigger or better. A man's relationship with a woman or a woman's with a man is nothing compared to their relationship with God. <br /> <br /> This is an amazing, amazing song.

What if he worded it so those who are religious can appreciate that, but those who aren't don't get offended. What my opinion is on the matter doesn't matter, what matters is we can all find the meaning we want in this breathtaking song.

Im sorry to say but everyone who thinks this song is not about god you are stupid. But if you look at the lyrics and take them in its defiantly about God. I always say I dont have a religion I have a relationship with Jesus Christ and this song is just showing how much God means to him and how much he needs him. I agree with the poster of this comment. This song is definitely about God. Nothing can compare with a person's relationship to God, especially not a relationship between man and woman. And I respect those people who's decision to not believe in God but just because you don't believe in him doesn't mean this song can't be about him and a guys relationship. Another thing, if you look this song up on youtube or anything else really you will see dozens of christian reenactments of a drama about the sins pulling you away from Jesus and how you come back to him based on this song.

seeing as how this is a christian writer im pretty sure he knows that God is all he needs not a girl. although it can be sung for a girl/guy, jason himself probably wrote it towards God but as a good writer he knows to write it in a way to connect on several different levels with several different people. Good song in whatever context you put it in. like what blackrose said.

I'm not very religious, But I'm not idiot, whether you believe in God or Not, you can't even dare to say this song isn't about Him. Specially considering The band is christian. I love how it can be a romantic song, the most beautiful feeling (according to the song), but let's face it, simple boy and girl love doesn't make you feel This great. This song can also be about loving someone. When you're in love, that person moves you in many ways. No Most love songs that don't specified a female/male subject subject can be interpret as a song for god.

I see the romantic aspect, but regardless of your faith (or lack of), it's still about God.

This song is about his relationship with God, but our relationships with others are supposed to be based on our relationship with God, so in a way, it is about both God and other people he knows

I think what makes this song so effective is that, although it is very clearly talking primarily about God, and the 'relationship' of faith in Christ, it draws upon elements of human relationships, and the emotional significance of feeling close to a person, to illustrate what it means to have intimacy with the Divine through Jesus Christ. In that sense, the 'God' aspect of the song is sort of 'take it or leave it', since the elements of experience from human relationships will still resonate with people of other faiths or none.

Without each-other, we would very well not be here on earth today. We are the strength, hope, life.. we are everything for each-other. This is the Love others talk about with their relationship with God, except in our case it's directed to another human. Someone posted a comment about not being able to physically stand next to God, but what we must all see is that God's relationship with each one of us is actually the most intimate we will have in our lifetime even though we cannot see Him. It is more intimate than that with a parent or a spouse. He knows us more than we know ourselves. This song resonates in a very deep place with me, because I have recently realized, coming out of a ten year hardship, that during my most painful times, God was working in the background in my life, preparing me to wake up several years later. Even when I felt most abandoned, and did everything possible to sabotage my life, He brought me to the place I am today. I knnow Him now like I never could have before, and I am in awe at how much love He has for me. Although the connection with the one who is to be our life partner should be stronger than any other human connection and fulfill us at an extremely deep place in our soul, I cannot deny the greatness of the love God has for me in the care He showed toward me and the process He began inside of me even when I was in extreme pain. There is no greater or more intimate love than the love He has for each one of us.

Hm...I have never thought of this song as being about God. I'm still not convinced it is. I think it was written to be about anyone who is most important to YOU. <br /> <br /> On a side note, the relationship one has with God may not be their most important relationship. It's ignorant to assume that just because YOU have an amazing relationship with God, that other people do too. Some people, like me, don't even believe in God! :-O So how can my most important relationship be with someone I'm not even sure exists? Seems to me like the most important relationship in your life should be the one you have with your husband/wife. Or, you know, your children. Or both. Besides, isn't that how God would want it? IF there is a God?

@princessaurora Except Jason Wade (the writer and singer of this song) himself said he wrote this song for a girl. He wrote it for his wife when they were dating. He used it to propose to her. Any real fan of Lifehouse knows this...
