Dark is the light,
The man you fight,
With all your prayers, incantations,
Running away, a trivial day,
Of judgment and deliverance,
To whom was sold, this bounty soul,
A gentile or a priest ?
Who victored over, the Seljuks,
When the holy land was taken

We will fight the heathens, We will fight the heathens
We will fight the heathens, We will fight the heathens

Was it the riches, of the land,
Powers of bright darkness,
That lead the noble, to the East,
To fight the heathens

We will fight the heathens, We will fight the heathens
We will fight the heathens, We will fight the heathens
We will fight the heathens, We will fight the heathens
We will fight the heathens, We will fight the heathens

We must call upon our bright darkness,
Beliefs, they're the bullets of the wicked,
One was written on the sword,
For you must enter a room to destroy it,
International security,
Call of the righteous man,
Needs a reason to kill man,
History teaches us so,
The reason he must attain,
Must be approved by his God,
His child, partisan brother of war,

Of war, we don't speak anymore,
Of war, we don't speak anymore,
Of war, we don't speak anymore,
Of war, we don't speak anymore,

We will fight the heathens, We will fight the heathens
We will fight the heathens, We will fight the heathens
We will fight the heathens, We will fight the heathens
We will fight the heathens, We will fight the heathens

General Comment:This song was said by Serj Tankian to be a question towards reasoning of war. The reasons for wars to be started keep changing. First it was pride, then for religion, then for drugs and dominationism and now it's for patriotism.

General Comment:this was my first system song and i still love it to death. i was on vacation at the time, so i couldn't get my hands on any of their other material for several days and, needless to say, i damn near died waiting.
it was love at first note.
this song is (duh) about the causes of war... primarily religion.
i can't stand idiots who think serj is saying he will fight the heathens... rofl... *sigh* you know.. music is not always from a first-person perspective...

General Comment:This was said by Serj before performing this song during a live concert:

When your lives depends upon American corporate profits in the Middle East, South East Asia, South America, all over the world. When the CIA has gone to bed with all your companies financial institutions and multinational corporations, your destiny has ended. Your government has sold you to the 5% of the population that controls 95% of the assets. Your lives are over in the next 15-20 years. Why? Why? WHY! Because you're envorinment is !&*#ing dieing, there is not enough to support the human race and why? WHY! For !&*#ing Profits! For !&*#ing Dollars! Wake the !&*# up! It is time to bring the truth back from the middle east, south east asia, eastern europe, south america. It is time for the United States Administration, Congress and the Pentagon to shut the !&*# up and listen to you, the american people. It's time!

General Comment:This is still the best SOAD song. Anyway, on the live recording with Lynn Strait, he simply criticizes what we think of war. The US interferes with many wars around the world, so how can "we fuckers call it war" even if it isn't war?

General Comment:This song is specifically about the Crusades and how so many innocent people died needlessly in the name of God. It's about how the "righteous" Crusaders killed the middle eastern Seljuks and felt justified in doing so because the war was "approved by their God" (who, by the way, said "thou shalt not kill").

General Comment:No, the Crusaders were fighting the Seljuk Turks for control of the Holy Land in the middle east. The goal was to get the filthy heathens (the Seljuks) out of the Holy Land, and take it for themselves. If you look up the history of the Crusades on Google, you'll see that every word he says tells the exact story of what happened.
