"Waiting" as written by and Billie Joe/wright Iii Armstrong....
I've been waiting a long time
For this moment to come
I'm destined
For anything, at all
Downtown lights will be shining
On me like a new diamond
Ring out under the midnight hour
Oh, no one can touch me now
And I can't turn my back
It's too late ready or not at all

I'm so much closer than
I have ever known
Wake up

Dawning of a new era
Calling, don't let it catch you falling
Ready or not at all
So close enough to taste it
Almost, I can embrace this
Feeling, on the tip of my tongue

I'm so much closer than
I have ever known
Wake up
Better thank your lucky stars

Well, I'm so much closer than
I have ever known
Wake up
Better thank your lucky stars

I've been waiting a lifetime
For this moment to come
I'm destined for anything at all

Dumbstruck
Color me stupid
Good luck
You're gonna need it
Where I'm going if I get there
At all

Wake up
Better thank your lucky stars

General Commentwhen i hear this song, i think about the moment you truly believe in yourself.
when it seems like anything in the world is available to you as soon as you take action.
to stop following the rules and waiting around for something to happen....

you are just as good as the next person, and actually believe in that statement.

General Commentthere's just something about the chord changes in this song,
especially at the start of the song
something regretful, almost as if you're regretting something, but the anticipation of something else is kind of cancelling that out
sorry, i'm not being very articulate
    i can't explain it properly.

General Commenti don't know about that one, but it definitely is a great great song, i think it was inspired by the old school song, "downtown" by petula clark

General Commentit strikes me as a coming-of-age song... when he refers to "downtown lights" and feeling "dumbstruck," it's like you're suddenly pushed into the spotlight, into this entirely new stage of life, and it's all up to you... and you've gotta learn how to handle it whether you want to or not. kind of bittersweet. best green day song in awhile i think.

General Commentfor me, it's about this moment, right now, in my life. I graduated from High School two days ago, and I have no idea what awaits me in the future. Even as far as that I am moving from Uptown Manhattan downtown to go to NYU next year, so the downtown lights will be shining on me. I've waited all this time for this moment, right here, and now I just have to wake up.

General Commentwhen i hear this song, i think of a point i want to get to in my life. and as you get closer to it, you better savor the moments and the memories that you're getting as close as you're getting to that desired point in your life. and when you finally reach that point in your life, you wont really know wat to do next, but you feel like you're ready for anything because you have just accomplished a personal feat.
