Won't do no good to hold no seance
What's gone is gone and you can't bring it back around
Won't do no good to hold no searchlight
You can't illuminate what time has anchored down
Oh, Honey (I've gone a-)
Oh, Honey (I've gone a-)
Oh, Honey (I've gone away)
Won't do no good to sing no love song
No sound could simulate the presence of a man
Won't do no good asking no questions
Your divination should acquaint You with the plan
Oh, Honey (I've gone a-)
Oh, Honey (I've gone a-)
Oh, Honey (I've gone away)
My feel for you, boy, is decaying in front of me
Like the carrion of a murdered prey
And all I want is to save you, honey
Or the strength to walk away
Won't do no good to go no distance
The space between us is as boundless as the dark
Won't do no good to throw no fist, babe
You can't intimidate me back into your arms
Oh, Honey (I've gone a-)
Oh, Honey (I've gone a-)
Oh, Honey (I've gone away)
My feel for you, boy, is decaying in front of me
Like the carrion of a murdered prey
And all I want is to save you, honey
Or the strength to walk away
My feel for you, boy, is decaying in front of me
Like the carrion of a murdered prey
And all I want is to save you, honey
Or the strength to walk away

General CommentI agree with the above comments - it's about her losing her physical attraction towards him BECAUSE of the emotional fucktard he turned out to be. That's why it's called "Carrion", like Fiona herself said, "as in dead flesh or rotting corpse". His body-persona is just rotten now and she could do without him, but very deeply she's still hanging around out of respect or fond memories for what they had before.

My Interpretationi think this song is about losing your attraction to a man because he's no good to you or himself. he is possibly abusive but definitely destructive.

i'm biased because i was entangled with a guy who has a drinking problem; this is what it means for me.

General Comment"All I want is to save you honey, or the strenght to walk away" How powerful is that?! I love this song, not only because of lyrics, but also because of the tempo change in this song. This song means a lot to me, especially that sentence. I can't really explain it, it just does.

General Commentok this is very great, this song. it probly means that her lover either wanted to take a break, or broke up with her and wants to get back together but hses just giving out the msg "Im too strong to give in. im gone. i am not giving u another chance. Once uve used ur chance with me, its only once. u hurt me too much and nothing will resound between us" ... make sense?

General CommentI agree with you, Swindler (btw: like your choice in music), but I also think she's not totally over him. She's like what you said ("I don't need you" etc), but I can't say she's really over him, otherwise why would she want to save him? Plus she says she wants the strength to walk away, so at this point, she doesn't have this strength, so she can't really leave him, though she claims she can. Okay that completes my monologue. Anyone agree? (reading this back, this doesn't even make sence to me... hehe, kiddin')

General CommentI agree FeyTH. it takes some thinking to comprehend but yes it makes sense after a bit ahah.
its either he hurt her or vise versa and/or he wanted to "take a break" and is hoping toget back together but she jsut wants to keep strong and stand her ground.

this happened to me twice now today being a second time he wants to "take a break" or "see other ppl" but im just like nuh-uh noway!

General CommentI believe this song is about feeling trapped in a relationship where whatever love there used to be has long dissapeared. It would seem as though fiona no longer has feelings for the boy (my feel for you boy, is decaying in front of me) and has left him without feeling any love or regret or pain, just indifference (I've gone away) - no part of her remains with him.
I was trapped in a relationship for years with a man I did not love then eventually when I left he tried to get me back, but he couldn't effect me at all any more, because although the relationship officially ended that day, I had been 'gone away' in spirit for a long time.

General Commentyeah i can so relate to this song right now unfortuantely. it's like what you all said, he broke up with me but is still "holding on" i guess...you know, calling, asking to see me, things like that. i personally think he's scared of this relationship, so yeah, the chorus <3

My feel for you, boy, is decaying in front of me
*his games are making me pull away, i'm getting used to his absence, i'm feeling less and less*

Like the carrion of a murdered prey
    *the end of our relationship*

And all I want is to save you, honey
*i would love to assure him that there is nothing to be afraid of...make him understand that love is scary, but so worth it*

Or the strength to walk away
*so i can stop hurting from all of this...*

    i love fiona
