Wounded, you can't take me there
I was wounded, you can't take me there
'Cause it was a crime that I was left
Will you go on without me?
Think I'll just walk myself to sleep

'Cause I ain't working for your father
But I might as well be
I ain't looking for confusion
But it tends to follow me

You can come into my house, she said
If you do it quietly
But I said
There ain't no chance in that, no

'Cause I am missin' into what you got
Put up your hands if you want me to stop
And I turn around but I think I'm crazy
If you think this happens a lot

Oh, do you like this?
Do you need someone to cover you
Just to show you what you miss?

Wounded, I well go if you go first
But I ain't gonna wait around
Tell me how much is your damn worth
We got then minutes to get there

We got ten minutes to go
Throw this one in for the money
'Cause the next one's for the next show

I ain't working for your father
But I might as well be
I ain't looking for confusion
But it tends to follow me

You can come into my house she said
If you do it quietly
But I said
There ain't no chance in that, no

'Cause I am missin' into what you got
Put up your hands if you want me to stop
But I turn around but I think I'm crazy
If you think this happens a lot

Oh, do you like this?
Do you need someone to cover you
Just to show you what you miss?

So hey, where you going?
Do you need somebody, somewhere
To help you get on by?
'Cause I think, you know who I am
And I'm gonna make this
As fast as I can

Some people call me
The push-up man
I promise it won't take
No no no no no no
Just close your eyes, yeah
And get in the van

I am missin' into what you got
Put up your hands if you want me to stop
And I turn around but I think I'm crazy
If you think this happens a lot

Oh, do you like this?
Do you need someone to cover you
Just to show you what you miss?

'Cause I am missin' into what you got
Put up your hands if you want me to stop
And I turn around but I think I'm crazy
If you think this happens a lot

Oh, do you like this?
Do you need someone to cover you
Just to show you what you miss?

Hey eh hay hay hay hay
And we comin' around again

Alright, you guys are getting that it's about sex, but your'e overlooking the most crucial part: "And I turn around, but I think you're crazy If you think this happens a lot Oh, do you like this? (sung in high pitch, as if by a woman) Do you need someone to COVER YOU JUST TO SHOW YOU WHAT YOU MISSED"

He's a confused man, who meats a controlling woman, and she bangs him in the ass with a strap on. simple as that.

i think its about some guy raping somebody somehow. 'i promise this wont take long' 'just close your eyes and get in the bed'. i dunno, that sorta gets shot down by '... if you want me to stop'. oh well.

i think this song is about sex. but its more about how she has control and he thinks shes missing out on some things. just how hell stop at her command and how hell turn around if she gets shy....and how with this shes missing out and he wants to show her what shes missed

Ok, to me, this song’s impression on me is that it is about a person who has lost his self-esteem (and possibly his mind) and “needs” this other person’s love, more specifically, a person’s physical love, in order to make him stable again. In a way, it sounds like something has gone wrong in his life and that he's given up on trying to find what he can do right. Maybe he's trying to show her that life sucks, so they might as well enjoy what they can. So, he’s trying to convince her that they need each other for the security. It’s kinda like he’s arguing with her. But you can’t hear her side of the conversation For example: Wounded, you can take me there [I was hurt but you can help me]

I ain't lookin' for confusion But it tends to follow me [just re-enforcing what I was saying about this person being a little, ahem, “lost” in life]

You can come into my house, she said [well, she invited him in. maybe not necessarily her "house" but her "world"]

If you do it quietly [but didn’t want him to try anything funny…]

But I said There ain't no chance at that [but he’s not going to promise that he won’t]

Put up your hands if you want me to stop [that’s… kinda straightforward…]

And I turn around, but I think you're crazy if you think this happens a lot [that just gives me the impression that after he’s done with her, he’ll leave her there but not want her to think that he’s a bad person]

Oh, do you like this? [I’m not going to go into detail on this…]

Do you need someone to cover you, Just to show you what you missed [like how I need you to cover me and show me what I’ve missed]

[then, for a while I really just don’t understand it]

So hey Where you going? [sounds like she's walking away from him and his offers but he doesn't understand]

Do you need somebody, somewhere To help you get on by? [I guess he's kinda taunting her. Trying to convince her that she doesn't need the rest of the world. That he'd be there for her.]

Cause I think, you know who I am [saying that he believes that she could understand him]

I'm gonna make this, as fast as I can Some people call me the pusher man I promise it won't take long no no no no [ still not going to go into details]

Just close your eyes and get in the van [maybe he’s taking her off the street?]

well, I know that was a pretty crappy interpretation, but that was my first impression of the lyrics. The music really does bring this whole song together. One of my fav's.

I think this song is about sex. Every word is so poetic and that is why it is so fun to analyze. Dispatch is an amazing band that writes incredible music. It isn't so much about what the song is exactly about, but more about how you intrepret it. That's what makes it so awesome to listen to.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
