Here he is He saves a grin He wants to be the one who doesn't have to sink a level Indiscrete, in his retreat All he needs is just a taste of the bitter pride he held in her name Embrace the solitude in ordinary fucked up state of grace Far away from the days he bared the cross she used to wear In some resolve well aware a little pitiful, a pin up boy they dress in grieving wear Well at ease in consent in the drift of undertow He won't justify the pity from them when he knows... fools in love are arrogant Their sermons cloud his breathing air He's in love with an isolation from emotion Here he is awaiting sentence A fool to think that anyone can escape guilt and anguish A subtlety that can't be learned A subtlety that can't be taught He is caught in the lure of second thoughts He might still care As he settles down well aware Bound in secrecy His voice will only dignify their fears but if sorrow is signified He's well aware of his pride

General Commentok so im wrong, but even if its about a guy on death row or a guy whose girl dies.....i like to inturpret it as just some lonely guy who learns to get past the lonliness and finds happiness in himself. Regardless, its a great song with great lyrics. joey cape is so good with words

General CommentI've never thought of the song being that way, but that's an interpretation I could see as being true. I've always thought it was about someone who doesn't want to bog himself down with all the crap that relationships bring, so he isn't in one. Everyone pities him because he's "alone" but he's fine with it. I've thought of the girl as an ex-girlfriend rather than someone who has died, but I could see it both ways.

General Commentumm...Joey's a good guy and all but I believe he was just fuckin with you about the death row interpretation. Seems to me dodgerbolt has a pretty good idea of what this song is about.

General CommentJoey probably wrote the damn song, and thats what i got out of it also.

Here he is awaiting sentence A fool to think that anyone can escape guilt and anguish A subtlety that can't be learned A subtlety that can't be taught

General Commentif you listen to it i dont think he was fuckin with me...its about a couple and the guy murders his wife and doesn't care about it until he gets sentenced in court (He is caught in the lure of second thoughts He might still care). He won't tell anyone why he did it which is the secretcy part(Bound in secrecy His voice will only dignify their fears). just about a fucked up guy who goes mad
i see it i guess no one else does
