This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.
This song will become the anthem of your underground
You're two floors down getting high in the back room
If I flooded out your house, do you think you'd make it out?
Or would you burn up before the water filled your lungs?
And at your funeral I will sing the requiem
This song will become the anthem of your underground
You're two floors down getting high in the back room
If I flooded out your house, do you think you'd make it out?
Or would you burn up before the water filled your lungs?
And at your funeral I will sing the requiem
I'd offer you my hand
It would hurt too much to watch you die
And you can bet that when we mourn the death of you that night (of you that night)
They'll lay me on the dinner table, I will be the pig
With the apple in my mouth, the food that celebrates your end
And at your funeral I will sing the requiem
I'd offer you my hand
It would hurt too much to watch you die
And at your funeral I will sing the requiem
I'd offer you my hand
It would hurt too much to watch you die

@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
I have only heard one of Saves the days CDs (the new one) and I do like them a lot, but they have to be one of the most misleading bands. They have the mellow, somewhat cheerful sound, but some of the darkest lyrics I have heard or read. Don't get me wrong, like I said they are an excellent band.
arg101, the band is misleading, but i dont think its because they have dark lyrics. if you listen to it, its not really that dark at all.
the metaphors in each line are about something beautiful and something that he can't control, something that we all can't control, but we wish we could. Saves the day produce the most nostalgic and beautiful pieces of work ever
if any of you are looking at the lyrics to this song simply because you heard it on the radio, don't just look here and be content. check out their old stuff. check out their older albums - through being cool, i'm sorry i'm leaving, and can't slow down. this is a good song, but a poor example of saves the day's talent. and chris's lyrics are amazing, so be sure to check out more of them on here.
sigh. this song is hard to understand; i take it my own way.
its bouncy, it's edge, it sucks. this is just the kinda song that gets stuck in your head and it's really hard to get out. not bad....
It's not about him killing his girlfriend beacuse he catches her smoking weed. Any halfway intelligent person can realize that it's a metaphor about how you have an ego and in a way it can be killed.
Well kingofthisnight, you either read the interview Chris gave on what the song means to him or its just a coincidence that you said exactly what Chris said, so I guess that makes you halfway intelligent too, good job
i hadn't really ever thought of metaphors but now that i think about it they're everywhere in this song.. i just fell in love with this song all over again.. nothing however can beat firefly, jesse and my whetstone and sell my clothes im off to heaven.. three greatest songs ever.. on a side note.. im going to see saves the day again tomorrow night with weezer.. jealous..?
I wish Saves The Day would come here to Virginia Beach/Norfolk. I've been dying to see them; the closest I've gotten is downloading the music videos. But the Mest/Midtown/Good Charlotte show was awesome, and the NFG/H2O/Rx Bandits was the shiznit as well.
This Song is about loving someone So much that you rather kill them then to let them keep going on with their self destuctive life. This CD is a big change from there previous CD's So I recommend Checking out their older CD's. Especially Check out Can't Slow Down, my personal favorite. STD Fan For Life
its about an ego i read it in an interview
