"Hopeless" as written by Scott Michael Underwood, Charles Colin, James W Stafford, Pat Monahan and Robert S Hotchkiss....
I hopelessly, helplessly, wonder why
Everything gotta change around me
I'd tell it to your face
But you lost your face along the way
And I'd say it on the phone
If I thought you were alone
Why do things have to change

But you don't need my pictures on your wall
You say you need no one
And you don't need my secret midnight call
I guess you need no one
Is anybody waiting at home for you
'Cause it's time that will tell if it's heaven if it's hell or if it's
Anybody waiting at home for you
'Cause it's time that will tell this tale

You're in and out up and down
Wonder if you're lost or found
But I got my hands on you
Are you strong enough to tow the line
Are you gonna make me yours
Or do I make you mine
I'm in and out I'm up and down
Wonder if I'm lost or found
But I need your hands on me now

But you don't need my pictures on your wall
You say you need no one
And you don't need my secret midnight call
I guess you need no one
Is anybody waiting at home for you
'Cause it's time that will tell if it's heaven if it's hell or if it's
Anybody waiting at home for you
'Cause it's time that will tell this tale

I hopelessly, helplessly, wonder why
Everything gotta change

General CommentFor me it's more of a she keeps herself surrounded by walls to keep herself safe type of situation. Saying she doesn't need anyone.
"Is anybody waiting at home for you?"
In the end she's just going to be alone, with no one to go home to.

General CommentWhat this song means to me is that it's someone who's giving up on someone they wanted, or want back. It's my favorite Train song.

General CommentAlso my favorite Train song. A person wants something and it's hopeless for them. Thanks.

General CommentWow, this song is amazing. Right from the very first guitar cord, you fall in love with the song. The first part is almost adictive too!...I think this song's about a guy who is really in love with someone who will just never feel the same way for him. She thinks that she doesn't need him but he stands as a constant reminder of how she can't do it alone, but in the end he knows that it's all hopeless.

General CommentAt the moment I can totally relate to this song. I've known this girl called Vicky for 5 years and her ex used to beat the living sh1t out of her (and I don't mean the odd slap here and there...). I have always had a soft spot for her and took her out a couple of times but she always went back to him. About a month ago, I bumped into Vicky and her sister Leanne and things just 'clicked' again. Up until last night, I was seeing Vicky but I never totally knew where I stood with her, she was always a bit standoffish so I just took things as they came. Then, on Saturday night, she was talking to a friend of mine who she had not met before and she said that she was my 'other half' so I though I finally knew where I stood. Last night, things weren't going too well and she said 'I think you want more from me than I can give' - I have no idea what she meant but I didn't like the sound of it... I would have like to thought that it was going to turn into a relationship instead of just a fling... seems she can't offer me that?

    The lines

'i'm in and out im up and down
wonder if i'm lost or found'

are how I feel at the moment, I just don't know where I am.

'cause it's time that will tell if its heaven if its hell or if its
anybody waiting at home for you
cause it's time that will tell this tale '

this is how I would like to feel things are, and that time would tell how things were between us, unfortunately, I cannot see that happening :o(
